View on Google MapsKarmela's strukli cooking class was a major highlight of our trip to Croatia! Not only did we have a great time learning to make strukli from start to finish, but we truly enjoyed every other part of the experience as well. From exploring the Dolac Market and interacting with local vendors, to sipping on Croatian wine. From sampling local meats and cheeses, to sitting with Karmela and learning more about her business, life and love for Croatia. Overall, this experience was incredible and is absolutely a top recommendation. And of course- the strukli was phenomenal :)
This class was amazing!! We took a tour of the Dolac Market and learned how to make Strukli from phylo dough and cheese filling. The market is where Karmela sources her fresh ingredients on a daily basis. Karmela was very patient and taught us how to roll and stretch out the dough very thinly. If we made a mistake with the dough, she was able to fix it. She has a great studio with the capability to accommodate multiple groups. While we waited for our strukli to bake we sampled some wine and charcuterie. Our strukli came out of the oven golden brown and tasted delicious. We would highly recommend taking this class to learn about making this classic Croatian dish. We would rate Karmela's class a 10 if we could.

Our wonderful guide/teacher was very knowledgeable, with regards to both cooking, as well as with the cultural and historical aspects of Zagreb. Her facility was very professionally organized, with an atmosphere of warmth and family. Truly a great experience to share with my daughter.
A great, personal experience. We cooked the Strukli at Karmela's house since the studio is undergoing work until July and it was perfect. She's very knowledgeable and patient, and the market tour let us try some national favourites. As a bonus, she even helped us book a restaurant she recommended for dinner and generally went beyond expectations.
Such a great experience learning about Croatian foods and traditions while making Strukli! The market was closed for Election Day so we got to also make strudels while the strukli was in the oven. Everything was delicious!
Karmela was delightful and an excellent instructor! Strukli has a rich history and we learned exactly how to make this delicious dish…the school Itself is fresh and attractive…highly recommend for foodies!
We had an incredible authentic štrukli making class during our time in Zagreb. The instructor is very kind and knowledgable, and her passion for food and authenticity shines through as she teaches. We also had the incredible opportunity to taste food samples at the local Dolac market, and feel more connected during our stay in Zagreb by learning about its rich history and diverse local flavours. We also had the chance to relax and enjoy what we made with an included bottle of wine, had an amazing time!
We had a lovely morning - it was wonderful learning how to make strukli and see the market. Also really appreciated being given the recipe so we could make it again once we arrived home.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time and cooking experience with Karmela. She was very friendly and knowledgeable, not only about making Strukli, but also about Croatian wines and good restaurants in Zagreb. She also toured us through the Dolac Market and showed us parts of the market we never would have found on our own. We had a lot of fun learning to make the Strukli, and it was incredibly delicious! Karmela served us two kinds of Croatian wines to try with our Strukli and explained both of their origins. We highly recommend this experience if you enjoy learning to cook traditional dishes in foreign countries!
