View on Google MapsWOW, what an amazing experience. We started off by snowshoeing across the frozen lake, and after a short and pretty hike through the woods we ended up at the Ice Cave. Our guide Bill gave us both excellent instruction on snowshoeing and interesting information on the traditional uses and history of snowshoeing, as well as information on the frozen lake, the local area, and the formation of the cave. The cave itself was super cool and very pretty, and after ample time for playing and pictures we began the snowmobiling portion of our tour. Once again, Bill (joined by Inga) gave us excellent instruction on the operation of the snowmobiles. After a bit of practice to get used to driving them on the ice, we embarked on a beautiful, and thrilling, trip across the Great Slave Lake, across the Dettah Ice road, and up into the wooded hills outside Yellowknife. We drove through beautiful wooded trails and across more frozen lakes, and even had time to explore the expanses of a frozen lake on our own while our guides waited (and kept a watchful eye). Our guides were also happy to take plenty of pictures of us. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience - it was our first time on snowmobiles and it was exhilarating and and absolute blast, but we also felt comfortable and safe the entire time. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough - Bill and Inga are super-friendly and are wonderful guides, and the tour offers the perfect combination of relaxation, adventure, and thrill. Thank you Arctic Tours Canada, Bill, and Inga!!
