View on Google Maps9:30 pm Bioluminescent Guided Tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The experience was well organized. Kayaking in the bay under the beautiful stars and bright full moon was magical. Great activity for all ages.
The tour guide and staff were excellent. We had mistakenly thought there would be a new moon on the day we scheduled, as is recommended for the best experience . Since this was not the case, there was a little less ‘wow’ factor once we arrived at the bioluminescent waters. You could only see the blue color when the water was disturbed . Overall we have an enjoyable experience.
Martinez Floor was our tour guide. We did not stay overnight on the island so we booked the early tour. Martinez was aware of this and had made sure we time to get on the ferry back to Ceiba. We lucked out and were the only ones on his tour for the 6:15 trip (it’s best to see when it’s later) but he had tricks to help us see the micro organisms! He was very informative, kind and I would definitely book another tour with him.

We saw a lot of bioluminescence on the bay. The wind was a bit strong for paddling. But really nice guide and driver.
I booked a 830 tour months in advance. I get the reminder email and the ticket an all and it says 830 trip, meet at Green store. So I go at 830, and no one is there. I read back through the tickets and nothing about 8pm meeting time but I saw it in the trip listing detail page. Apparently I’m the only one of the group who missed it, so maybe I’m the odd one out but i think making it better visible/obvious would be good Luckily, the company came to pick me up late! Turns out the car left 10 min before I got there at 830 on the dot. The ride to the bay is a bit bumpy. I realize now that this is because I was late (at the time I had no idea and thought I was the only one on the trip), but the guides said nothing the whole ride, then took me to a boat. They told me to sit in one canoe and asked if I know how to paddle. I said yes and they pushed the canoe off. Thankfully, a guide in a separate canoe came with! Tragically, the winds were particularly strong and you canoe actually quite a distance. Canoeing solo is not only tiring and difficult (I had a blister by the end) but it makes attempting to record (I had brought a special camera) much more difficult- I wasn’t sure why the guide didn’t just come in the same canoe as me. Whe I asked they didn’t give a great answer - I think the didn’t know how bad the wind was, and that I’d be set on wanting to record. You will get wet - even if you don’t leak from your paddle someone else next to you might. It was a bit chilly in Jan and I wore jeans and a denim jacket and I’m glad I did.
What a magical experience! Martinez was very professional and informative on our magical canoe trip. He pointed out many star constellations and took us to the mangrove to see oysters and various tiny fish as well as indigenous plant species. This experience was so truly thrilling and unique. The bioluminescent waters took our breath away. Don’t miss it while in Puerto Rico!
Amazing experience. After visiting a couple bioluminescent bays, this was far the brightest! Shout out to the crew, Freddy, Pablo, and Freddy’s son for giving us an amazing tour around Mosquito bay and also taking the time to share the history of the bah and even star gazing. The clear bottom kayaks was the best thing about it!
Great excursion to see the bioluminescent planktons. There is paddling in the clear bottom kayaks to reach the best sites to see the bioluminescence. One needs to be able to get in and out of a kayak which is made easier as the landing area is shallow. It is important to do the excursion when there is very little moonlight. Best to enjoy the experience and not try taking pictures. The guide explained about the plankton and added information about the stars, the mangroves, and the ecology. Very interesting and informative. A unique experience. The clear bottom kayaks are highly recommended.
Such an amazing and magical experience! So beautiful and fun activity to do. Definitely recommend!!!
The trip was worth it .. Martinez is really awesome and guides you through the trip. The crew was amazing… I highly recommend..
