View on Google Maps⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disappointing Sani Pass Tour We can’t understand why this tour went ahead in such terrible weather. It rained all day, everything was covered in clouds — we saw absolutely nothing of the Sani Pass! We booked a private tour expecting everyone to have a good view, although there was no view that day!! but got a regular 4x4 where one person had to sit all the way in the back with almost no visibility. ( very small back windows) The drive was very slow (5–20 km/h), and we were already back by 14:30 — definitely not a full-day experience. The guide could have suggested an alternative plan to make something out of the day, but didn’t. In the end it felt like a completely pointless and wasted day. This tour should never have gone ahead in such weather. If you book a whale watching tour it’s also cancelled when the weather is too bad..otherwise it’s useless to go…
What a great day Sfiso was a very competent driver and at no time did we feel that we were in danger despite the steep rugged track being challenging. Combined with his excellence at spotting birds ,wildlife and flowers this is a trip not to be missed if you are in the area. Add to that an easy border crossing and the highest pub in Africa, a visit to a Lesotho homestead it proved to be excellent

Our driver Duma was outstanding. He took us safely up and down the pass despite bad weather.
We did a Sani Pass tour with Patrick (booked with “Roof of Africa”) and had a fantastic experience: Not only was the pass much more beautiful and spectacular than we expected. Patrick Jolly has made it an extraordinary experience: He told us extremely interesting and really interesting facts and stories about everything about Lesotho, the relationship to South Africa, geology, history, wildlife and plants as well as the culture and tradition of the inhabitants of Lesotho - and all this in a very entertaining way - so not a bored whining down of facts, but in the best sense of the word telling stories. The tour was great overall and Patrick managed to make it very special. After 16 trips in Africa with many, many tours, this Sani Pass tour together with a tour in Namibia in 2010 was the best we have ever done. Thanks Patrick Jolly for this wonderful day!!!
We had an incredible time, Our guide was so good and we had perfect weather. It was a memorable trip and we recommend it. 10 out of 10
Three out of five... Frankly very, very good day. Roger, the guide, was great! The scenery is beautiful, the Lesotho plateau unique, timeless and magical... but the impression is mixed when it comes to visiting with locals. Poverty is pervasive. I have the impression that business does not benefit everyone. Anyway. To do again but only one day. With a little more control over stops in villages.
Price overpriced. Vehicle too small. Like a sardine can. Driver's driving style inappropriate. Even if he's been driving like this for a long time. SAFETY of guests must be a top priority.
Our guide was well versed and pointed out interesting details and places or stopped on the tour up to the Sani Pass. Great views, adventurous road - that's the attraction. Even if you can get to Lesotho just a stone's throw away, it still gives a small impression of how the people of Lesotho live. We were lucky enough to be able to visit the project of a pastor, who gives the shepherd boys an education there. Funded only by donations - impressive. Hopefully there are many tourists who make the tour and leave a donation !!
We had tried the Sani pass the year before and it was a tricky drive even with a decent vehicle and I found that the Diff-Lock needed to come down the steep declines caused a fair bit of wear and tear on my rear tires so I figured I would use the tour company for the next trip up. Sani Pass has been sanitized over the last year or so and is much kinder on vehicles and in much better condition but its still quite a challenging drive up and when you're the driver you miss the majestic view on the way. having a professional driver and letting their car take the knocks seemed a much better option and I got to see so much more. an amazing bonus was an arranged stop at one of the Lesotho homesteads where we were welcomed into local lady's home to experience Lesotho culture and then we got to sample the most amazing warm Pot-Bread. I bought another loaf to have back at the hotel that evening. The Tour is reasonably priced considering the amazing experience you enjoy and the fact that you can see so much more and there is no wear and tear on your own car to consider.
Had been on our list for some time and were very excited about the trip. Our driver Frank was great - really helpful and full of interesting facts - we felt safe at all times in his capable hands - we were not disappointed and would recommend this trip.
