Mt Batur, South Batur, Kintamani, Bangli Regency, Bali, Indonesia
View on Google MapsWe were fortunate to have Wira (guide) and Arjana (driver) for our hike to the summit of Mount Batur. Arjana was bang on time to collect us from our hotel which was some distance away and created a peaceful, friendly environment so we could rest ahead of the walk. We had people of differing fitness levels in our group and Wira handled it expertly. He made sure we made it to the top in plenty of time for sunrise with a little time to spare without making those who found it more challenging like they were being rushed or pressured. He so took the time to explain some of the local activities (like how farming works on the mountain) and history of volcanic activity. Similarly Arjana was very adept at offering his knowledge of the regions we passed through on the way back, but also letting us nap if we preferred. Two good guys I can highly recommend for anyone considering the excursion.
We were collected by our driver Jero, on time at 02.30 and taken to our meeting point near the base of Mount Batur. Met up with our guide Wira and armed with our head torch and walking stick we started the ascent of the volcano. We have walking experience but it was still a good pull to reach the top which we completed in approx 90 minutes. Wira, was helpful and encouraged regular breaks where necessary and was extremely informative in providing us with the history of the volcano and its previous eruptions. We arrived in good time for sunrise, although due to cloud cover, this was somewhat limited, however the views were incredible. Following breakfast and once light, we ventured around the ridge and took in some alternative views and experienced the areas of “steaming” still escaping from the ground. The rocks were hot and people were boiling eggs! After some photographs, we made our way back down, caution, some of the ground was quite loose and sturdy footwear definitely recommended. There are also 4x4 and motorbike options available to get you near the top if you are unable to complete the full climb. Following return, we were greeted by our driver Jero, who took us to the hot springs for a dip, a nice experience in the hot pools but after walking, I was already hot enough!! 😂 On the return back to our hotel, we called into a coffee plantation and received a short tour before tasting some of their coffees and teas. We bought several and then head back to our hotel at a ridiculous 11am feeling like our day was complete. Big thanks to Wira and Jero, they were excellent hosts and guides. A worthwhile and memorable trip. Thank you.
Great guide Wali with good english skills! Hike was in parts quite steep but overall easily doable in about 1h 15min. Sunrise was beautiful, maybe not the most spectacular we ever had. Take a proper jacket, waiting on top can be cold ;)
Great experience! Our guide Mr Rama was knowledgeable, patient & super helpful. We are a family of four with two kids aged 9 & 14, Mr Rama helped our whole family without rushing us at all. Thanks for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend.
Walli was our guide for the Mt Batur sunrise trek and he was the best guide we could have asked for! The experience itself was absolute magic, and he made it even more special with his kind caring nature, great sense of humour, and good knowledge of all the best spots on the mountain. It was the experience of a lifetime truly
Wonderful view at the mount Batur. Thank you Jero for the drive and being so arranging for the pick up place ! And thank you to my guide, Siska, who was very kind and sweet, making sure I was ok during all our trip. I felt safe as a solo traveler and had an amazing time! They both were very nice and arranging 🤗
Great experience, we chose to leave at night with the sunrise. Our guide was great, very friendly, attentive. And who knows the volcano very well. Our driver then took us to hot springs and then coffee plantation. A great morning. I recommend 200%
It was a wonderful experience! We left on foot at 3.30am to see a spectacular sunrise on Mount Batur. Our guide Wali has always stood by us, followed our step and helped us in the most difficult points. A really cute and helpful guy! And although we got to the top there were quite a few people, along the way we were almost always alone. Thank you so much!
We had the best time! It was definitely a challenging climb at times. But Siska, our guide, was amazing as was our driver. Super helpful and kind. Highly recommend.
Super good trip! We had the best guide in the world! He was funny and friendly! Can recommend the trip to all who come to Bali His name was bayu, pick him👏🏻
