View on Google MapsWe really loved the desert tour! It was very well arranged, communication was great and our guide, Badr, was professional, friendly, funny and took great care of us. The desert feels like you're walking on a different planet. Very cool. Camping in the middle of nowhere, after having a delicious BBQ chicken for dinner, was the absolute highlight!
White Desert Tours really lacks in organising longer tours, probably as they seem to cater 95% for tourists doing the 2 day trip. When I arrived to Bahariya oasis, I was informed by Amir, the manager, that days 1 and 2 will be swapped. So instead of starting the desert tour at 11 am, as it was in the original tour itinerary, the tour started after lunch at 1 pm. This lead to the driver being stressed out about making to the camp before sunset. In the first two places we were allowed only 15-20 minutes time as in the itinerary both of them supposed to have one hour time. The driver also drove his Land Cruiser like he was in Paris-Dakar rally. When asked to slow down, he didn’t because of the overly tight schedule. When I showed him my relaxed itinerary his answer was “Talk to the manager”. On the second day I had a chat with Amir, who tried to convince me that this was the only option but I was left unconvinced. In the desert camp, “vegetarian dinner” was the same that others ate but without chicken. Our driver was not really communicative and kept to himself, which is fine for many tourists, although it was a bit weird to hear drumming and singing from other camps when we drank our tea in silence. Next day, tour around Bahariya oasis and Bawiti village was otherwise fine - and the driver much more jovial - but “Bahariya Cemetery”, which was in my tour itinerary was not included, even though Amir promised me I would see it. When the driver called him, he claimed that “cemetery” means the whole town and not the Qurat Qasr Salim tombs, which are one of the main sights of the oasis. He promised that on the 3rd day morning there would be time for me to see the tombs (which I had). Also, I saw 4 hot water pools in one day, of which I was not very enthusiastic about. Vegetarian dinner in the hotel was 2 boiled eggs instead of chicken. Hotel room was okay for the price. So, I have mixed feelings about this 3 day, 2 nights White Desert tour. I recommend visiting White Desert highly but make sure you get what you have paid for. Or arrange a longer tour in the desert. It might be that at the moment there are no other companies doing White Desert tours: all Land Cruisers in the oasis seemed to be from this same company.
An unforgettable and unique experience. This desert tour was amazing and truly different from anything I had done before. Everything was very well organized from start to finish, including transportation and logistics. The vehicles were excellent, which made the experience comfortable and safe. The landscapes are stunning, and the night in the desert is something really special and unforgettable. The dinner in the desert was very good and completed the experience perfectly. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Egypt and looking for a unique, well-organized, and memorable experience. One of the highlights of my trip.
The Black and White Desert are beautiful! Not to be missed. Our guide Mahmoud was great, we were lucky to have him! The whole team of this agency was very friendly and welcoming.
The desert camping was a great experience. The food cooked over the campfire was delicious. The desert sunset and sunrise over the horizon are a must-see.
Amazing stay of 2 nights in the Egyptian white desert. Amir organized everything, it is very easy to reach and answers all questions. Our guide in the desert was discreet but very efficient and very dexterous to cross the dunes. The scenery is amazing, as are the magical sunsets and sunrises. I can only advise you this excursion and you can have complete confidence in Amir to organize everything.
The trip with our guide Ayadi was fantastic : as a Bedouin, he knows the places we visited extremely well. His English was very decent and he was able to tell us interesting stories and teach us about the culture. The whole experience was amazing, the oasis we visited beautiful, and the desert a unique place.
That was a very beautiful experience. A night in the desert and a day trip around the oasis made this trip memorable! We were assigned to Hazem; he has over 25 years experience and traveling with him was very magical. In these kind of trips, the knowledge makes the difference, and Hazem has brought us around the desert making us feeling like a part of it! Moreover, his organisational skills were impressive, managing not only the driving parts, but also the dinner and camping. Thanks also to Ahmed, Hazem colleague. His support was great!
Do NOT do the 3 day/2 night tour! Tour provider completely switched the itinerary without any choice. In a group of 13 guests, all but 2 of us were doing the 2 day/1 night tour, so the tour provider lumped us into the 1 night group. That means all the sites were COMPLETELY RUSHED AND PACKED vs having the spaced out itinerary that was advertised. On the first day each stop is 5-15 minutes each because there is little time before setting up camp for sunset - essentially you just get out of the car to take a picture and are rushed out and onto the next stop. No time to savor, hike/look around, or enjoy. On the second day there was nothing to do until 4pm when they put us together with someone else doing the 3 day tour. And there is NOTHING to do at the hotel. So on day 2 we started the “tour” at 4pm, which is just a bit of driving around and then sitting at a lake from 5:30-6:30pm. The sand boarding was fun, white desert super beautiful, but the arrogance and rudeness of the tour provider really ruined the experience. Very few of the staff speak English - only 1 of the 3 drivers for our 13 person group spoke English. At the “hotel” only a couple of the staff did - no explanations of what you were eating and the “mystery meat” made my husband sick (I’m vegetarian, which I had to tell them repeatedly). You have to PAY FOR WATER at the hotel! I’ve never experienced that during a tour before. You can also buy soft drinks at the hotel - which I did and paid for in cash each time but at the end they accused me of not paying for the drinks! There was also an older lady who wanted a drink but didn’t bring cash from her room - she tried to explain that she would pay when she checked out, but they didn’t understand her and they wouldn’t give her a drink! So I gave her money to pay for the drink so she wouldn’t have to go back to her room. At the hotel there are a LOT of bugs - my husband and I each got over a dozen bites (I think mosquitoes) in the one day we had at the hotel. The 2 stars are because the white desert was stunning and worth seeing. Sadly the tour provider lied and the itinerary we signed up and paid for was not provided. The hotel staff are rude and the room smells bad. Felt like everything was rushed, packed to gather as many people together as possible, and no one actually cared about their job or guests having a good time :( I would recommend you save yourself a lot of frustration and find a different 1 night white desert tour provider.
A very well-organized tour filled with wonderful sights. On the first day, we explored the Black and White Desert, and on the second we visited the attractions around the Bahariya Oasis. The food throughout the trip was outstanding, not only delicious but served in generous portions. Sleeping in the desert on the first night was an unforgettable experience, followed by a stay in a beautiful, clean, and well-kept hotel on the second night. It’s definitely worth choosing the three-day, two-night option instead of the shorter tours. After the busy program of the first day, the second day offers the perfect chance to rest a little and enjoy a more relaxed itinerary. I can only recommend it!
