Our driver Yuni arrived early at the port entrance. In spite of the construction and traffic he made his way around expeditiously to get us in our way. The drive took less time than expected. Yuni shared lots of information on the culture, religion, way of life and historical data on the way. Arriving at Borobudor Monument everything went smoothly. Yuni dropped us off and ushered us right to the entrance. He knew his way around. My husband got a wheelchair, so convenient since he couldn't walk long distances. Yuni was there guiding us through the park. He wasn't able to guide us in the Monument, very strick rules but waited for us at the exit. The ride back to port took just a bit more. We got back to the ship safely with plently of time. Yuni even stopped to help us buy an avocado for that evening's dinner. A delightful guide. I highly recommend him.
The Borobudur is beautiful! The tour was arranged very well. And Atok is a great driver and can tell a lot about the area and culture :) would recommend!

Very good day at Borobudur temple from Semarang. Atok, my guide, arrived a little early at my hotel in Semarang, when he lives more than two hours away. Atok is very friendly and easy to access. Moreover, he speaks very good English and the communication by WhatsUp in preparation for the trip was very clear and precise. Traffic was good that day, which allowed us to connect my hotel to the temple in two hours, hence a departure at 8 am and a return around 3 pm. Atok is a very good driver, despite the 'peculiar' driving in Indonesia. The visit is very well organized, in groups of fifteen, and the visit to the upper parts of the temple lasts one hour. The agency had booked the tickets for the tour. Please make sure to book in advance as the number of tickets to the upper part of the temple is limited. I highly recommend it.
We opted to do this tour instead of the one offered by our cruise line so that we could drive directly there and leave when we wanted to. We left an hour later the cruise ship group and were back 1.5 hours before them. Worth every penny. Our driver, Thoriq, was great. He was on time, escorted us through ticketing up until we joined the Boroburdur tour and then was waiting for us when we were done. Afterwards he accommodated our request to stop for cold water. Highly recommed this trip and Thoriq!
Borobudur is a UNESCO world heritage site that must be seen. The largest Buddhist temple in the world is simply stunning. We travelled to the site with EKO - a superb driver guide with excellent English, good humour and good conversation. It is more than 2 hours drive to the temple from Semarang port - you will spend a large part of your day in the car so don’t underestimate the value of a driver guide who is both knowledgeable and good company! It is a hot climb to the top of the temple but you are rewarded by great story telling from the official guides on site and wonderful views when you reach Nirvana at the top. This has been the standout highlight of our visit to Indonesia - highly recommended.
We had an awesome trip to Borobudur Temple. We arrived before the Holland America buses and were able to visit the temple with a guide of 5 which was amazing.
Outstanding driver/guide! Loved the experience of driving around the Indonesian countryside . Long day, but worth it
Nanda (our driver) and Galih(our guide) were both excellent. We were able to tailor our tour just as we wanted and go to some unusual places. They were both very friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour
Anang Nasir picked me up from the Star Breeze port in Semarang and drove me to the Buddhist temple. On the way we chatted about Java Indonesia and Florida in the USA. My husband was not feeling well so I went solo with Anang. What a polite young man who speaks the English language very well. Anang asked about my favorite music and we listened to the Temptations Akon our route. Anang pointed out the highlights. He stopped on the way home to stop for mangosteen fruit for my husband. He is very thoughtful. Anang turned me over to a guide inside the temple who explained the history of the temple and identified the trees and bushes inside the park surrounding the temple. Anang made a long ride into a fun time. I highly recommend the trip and the guide.
The tour was very well organised and our guide Atok was very nice and shared a lot of interesting information and facts. It was a great tour.
