View on Google MapsTomo-san was an incredible host! He was very meticulous in his planning and his care during our tour of Otaru. Mt. Tengu was closed so he instead took us to Shiroikoibito Park and then allowed us time to see the beautiful night view of Sapporo. On top of it, he always made sure the car was warm for us whenever we took time to shop or take pictures before leaving an area. He answered any questions we asked, made for amazing conversation in general, and took the time to ensure that we had an unforgettable experience in Otaru. He was so personable that it was hard to leave at the end of the tour! He knew so much about Hokkaido and in general is so well traveled, I felt like I could ask anything and knew I would get a great answer. He made sure we spent the time we needed in memorable spots in Otaru and made amazing recommendations for omiyage, snacks, and sushi (even last minute!). I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see Otaru, especially if they want to learn about it.
This was a private tour, anly my friends and I were as the guests. The guide, Mr. Tomo, was a very warm, care, and helpful person, that made our trip was memorable, exciting, and satisfying. We had really good culinary experiences while walking along the scenic shopping road in Otaru. Especially Mr. Tomo brought us to a very good local restaurant, serving grilled lamb. This is a well wrorth taking tour while staying in Sapporo.

Tomo our guide was wonderful. He listened to what I wanted to and met all of our expectations. We had fun stopping for Hokkaido ice cream, potato croquettes and a wonderful bowl of ramen off the beaten path. We had a nice mix of sightseeing, shopping and relaxing. There are quite a few glass shops which was a surprise. One even had Venetian glass from Murano. Mt Temu had a beautiful view on such a sunny day and watching people feed the chipmunks was adorable. We had an interesting tour of the bank and had fun comparing Japanese and American money. Tomo picked us up and dropped us off at the cruise port, so it was a worry free and fun day!
Tomo-san is an excellent English conversationalist and tour guide. We were able to talk about many thing about Otaru and Sapporo
I had a great experience with Tomo-san! He was able to converse in English so we talked about many topics! I especially liked that he explained the importance of the Otaru Canal, and patiently helped when I was shopping in Sakaimichi. So many beautiful articles. He also offered ideas for meals and snacks, which I found to be endearing as there were places he mentioned that were not easy to find in Sakaimichi.
We had a lovely and relaxing day with Tomo. Started from our hotel with a comfortable ride to Otaru where we took pictures of the famous canal, sampled all the wonderful food (amazing sushi and sweets). We did some shopping for souvenirs and then headed back to Sapporo city with a stop at the chocolate factory and Sapporo city viewpoint. We appreciated the flexibility to adjust the itinerary and the relaxing way it was conducted.
The Otaru canal trip was mesmerizing. With clear weather for the first part and then heavy snowing in the second part. We were fortunate to walk the shopping street and visit the Music box shop with good weather, and even see the 12noon clock chime. Tomo san, our guide was throughout with us sharing his perspectives and also guiding us where to shop and try our different delicacies. We also tried an authentic sushi restaurant, which was extremely expensive but very delicious sea urchin rice bowl, chef's sushi platter and white wine. Overall a very relaxing and fun tour.
Otaru is scenic, with phenomenal desserts, beautiful glasswork and music boxes. It is a nice day trip from Sapporo, which ends with a very relaxing onsen. I would highly recommend the day trip as a nice way to get away from the larger city. Tomo was a great guide: he was a good conversationalist, gave me some wonderful food recommendations, and also helped me arrange shipping for some of the beautiful glass I bought. Overall, I was a nice trip!
Tomo was a great tour guide. He showed us the highlights of Otaru and recommended a great seafood restaurant for lunch. Our tour was to include a visit to the onsen but due to a traffic accident and timing of our next tour, we couldn’t make it. Tomo felt bad for us and arranged to pick us up later that evening and take us to the onsen. What a great experience of going to the onsen at night! Thank you so much Tomo for your hospitality.
Started off with our guide Tomo, picking us up from our hotel right on time. We had a wonderful day exploring Otaru and Mt. Tengu. He was patient as we strolled through the quaint town, we enjoyed immensely our sushi lunch at his “secret” spot. To cap off the day, we spent the last part of the day at an outdoor Onsen. We highly recommend Tomo - plus he is a lot of fun!. DK
