View on Google MapsOur guide Gregory was really great. Very fun evening with him. Very knowledgeable about history of San Sabastian as well as Which local pintxos bars to go to and what to order at each one. A very engaging guy who made it a very fun night.
Fantastic experience from beginning to end. Gregory was an amazing host in every regard. A great curator of food (He actually trained at Le Cordon Bleu), very considerate of our likes or dislikes and ordering the perfect combinations of food and drink and great portions. The sampling of Pinxtos bars he took us to were top notch and I have returned to a few I enjoyed them so much. A very affable fellow, I appreciated his wit, sense of humor, and he supplied alot of great social commentary and a wealth of knowledge on the history of San Sebastian. After the tour he also reached out with the list of places visited and also several lists of new recommendations (several which I'll be trying in upcoming days). Cannot recommend enough and would suggest booking on first night or two in San Sebastian as it completely changed and molded my perception of the food culture and changed my plans for upcoming restaurant reservations. If you give him a chance you wont be disappointed Aupa Hi!!
We were recommended by our pintxo guide in San Bilbao, and what a great recommendation it was! We spent a fab day with Gregory and loved every minute of it. So knowledgeable, enthusiastic and his love of San Sebastián, food and wine as well as its people shone through. We learnt so much, and he coped admirably well with me being ‘non-fishy’! Thoroughly recommended, small group sizes, we were a two and it worked really well in the small busy bars. Not a cheap day out, but if you want a personalised experience as a couple or small group it is worth the spend, we will always have great memories of our time in this fab city. Thank you so much Gregory. Kay & MIke
Fantastic. An absolute must if you're heading to San Sebastian. Gregory is a fantastic host, knowledge and entertaining.
Listen, book Gregory ASAP if you’re planning a trip to San Sebastián! This tour was awesome for the following reasons: - It was intimate, we weren’t elbowing through 15 people to hear Gregory. It was just the 4 of us - He gave us extensive knowledge about the region and culture while walking and pointing out sites - The food he selected was AMAZING, things we likely wouldn’t have found without him - We had fun learning about wine - He was personable, we felt like we’ve known him forever and were enjoying meals with a friend - The locals clearly love him, this obviously means he’s a cool dude - Gregory kept us laughing - His mustache rocked Thank you, G! Gregory was an excellent host. We were lucky in that we had a private tour. The Pintxos and vino was great and he just makes the evening all the better. Great Basque history lesson too!!
We spent a very enjoyable afternoon with Greg on his Pintxo lunch tour and below are some highlights to share, with a strong recommendation that if you enjoy food, this is the tour for you! Greg is well established in San Sebastián and this is evident as we walked around and it felt like he knew everyone! The respect and welcome he has from the restaurant owners, butchers, sea food sales people and pintxo bar employees was clear as he conversed in the Basque language, and we felt like we were getting a tour no one else could reliever as a result. We started with a walk around the vegetable market and then the meat and fish markets. Greg shared his knowledge with every step, not only about the food but the Basque way of life and communities. Then we weaved our way through the incredibly pretty streets and Greg chatted around the history of the city and what makes it so special. We visited 3 quite different pintxo bars and learned about the history. Greg was great and getting to know what we liked and didn’t, ordering a wide range of dishes with a mix to challenge. I am proud to say I tried the Pigs Ear! See pictures…. Overall, if you enjoy food and a tailored and enthusiastic tour and guide - this is the tour for you!
I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Gregory was fantastic throughout. The insight into Basque culture were fascinating and the Pinxtos tour was exceptional. The food was brilliant and thanks to Gregory’s top tips, we felt able to get the most out of the rest of our stay. Definitely recommend the tour and doing it early in your stay.
Gregory was informative and a delightful fellow. So smart. We had a great breadth of Pintxos culture and food and the amazing Basque people.
Our evening culinary extravaganza with Greg in San Sebastian was hands down one of the highlights of our recent trip to Spain, and easily the best and most entertaining food tour we’ve ever participated in (and there have been some great ones - Japan, Canada, France, Italy). We highly recommend planning an evening with Greg if you are visiting San Sebastián. And make sure he not only regales you with stories of Spain, but also of his many years living and dining in Asia.
