View on Google MapsWe took a private tour to Tikal. I’m not the kind of person to usually pay for a tour, let alone be willing to pay a little extra for a private tour. I can’t tell you how happy I am with my decision to commit to the private tour, which, all things considered, was super reasonable. We were offered a pickup near San Ignacio but decided to drive ourselves to the border. Hugo was super communicative and made the process of figuring out parking and crossing border super easy. However, I’m super glad we listened to the advice to get there at the time he recommended, as the border crossing can be slow on the way into Guatemala. Listen to Hugo. What Hugo says goes. After crossing, we were met by Gil, our driver, who was so friendly, interesting to talk to and helpful in giving us context for the towns we went through on our drive to Tikal. And our guide, Noel, who has been exploring Tikal since he was 12, and guiding in the park for the last 15 years, gave us a perfect three and a half hour tour through the park in a route that we would have never been able to devise ourselves, let alone understand the context for what we were seeing. Again, I’m not a tour guy. I love to diy pretty much everything in all the places I go, but I couldn’t imagine having the experience I had today without the crew at U Go tours.
Wonderful tour with husband and my college kids. Luis was fantastic and so informed about the history. Long day but all worth it.

Il tour è stato molto interessante e il giro nella giungla di tikal è stato entusiasmante. La guida parlava fluentemente inglese e spagnolo e ci ha fatto rivivere il mondo maya. Nonostante un piccolo imprevisto il tour operator si è rivelato gentile e disponibile a gestire il tutto. Consigliato!
Tikal was stunning, and our guide Sergio was very helpful and informative. He definitely knew his history and gave lots of interesting information. The drive was comfortable and border crossing was a breeze. The tour operator organized a convenient ride for us for our hotel just outside of San Ignacio to the border to meet the guide and the others who came along on the tour. I would recommend dressing light and bringing lots of water and sunscreen as it was extremely hot and sweaty, but it was a small price to pay for what we got to see in Tikal. Lunch was delicious as well. 10/10 would recommend!
Hugo is the best! He met us at the border and made the entire experience magical. His knowledge of the Mayan history made the trip so great. He took care of EVERYTHING, including lunch on the way out. Cannot recommend higher, I will tell all my friends about U-Go.
Willie was our tour guide. He was so friendly and super knowledgable. We had such a great time exploring Tikal and spotting wildlife in the park. Transportation to, from, and across the border was easy and helpfully organized through the reservation. Highly recommend going to Tikal with a guide! There is such rich history that cannot be known by simply solo exploring the park!
Hugo was excellent at communicating before during and after our trip. Louis, our tour guide was amazing. He was familiar with everything in Tikal and the surrounding areas. Before the tour we stopped and had the most delicious coffee I’ve ever had in my life and he showed us many of the indigenous plants. The tour of Tikal it was phenomenal and I can’t even express in words how appreciative I am. If you are looking for a day trip to Tikal, this is the one to book. You can be picked up in Belize or Flores.
Sergio was our guide for Tikal. The trip was amazing. I had only seen Mayan pyramids on television. However to visit then and be there was truly awe inspiring. Sergio was outstanding. Clearly experienced. Obviously informed. Honestly passionate. The park itself was awesome, however our wonderful experience was enhanced because of Sergio. A must, must, must for anyone remotely interested in the history and beauty of that part of the world. Thank you.
I highly recommend this tour! Mariela picked us up at the border and spent the entire day sharing her knowledge of the culture and of the Mayan ruins. We were able to stop for breakfast on our way to Tikal and for lunch afterwards. At Tikal, she explained what were seeing and then gave us time to explore, then we walked further into the park to reach Temple IV and climb above the tree tops. We were able to see spider monkeys, a toucan, and coatimundi along the way. Mariela answered all of our questions and was very friendly. Great day!
We booked a tour with another tour company in Belize to go to Tikal. U-Go picked us up on the Guatemala side of the border and guided the tour. It was a really great experience. The guides were friendly, accommodating, and made this a seamless experience. Also the lunch is SO good!
