45 Ngongotaha Road, Ngongotahā, Rotorua 3010, New Zealand
View on Google MapsCruising is a great way to describe the rail trip from Ngongataha to Mamaku. There isn't anything you need to do but relax and look around at the lovely views and native bush. We had four adults and one elderly dog on the 45 minute journey. The commentary was a nit hard yo hear for front passengers over the clackety clack of the cruiser which is a shame as it talked about the interesting history of the area and its characters. Recommend for a different experience that you don't need to be a thrill seeker for, and being able to bring our dog along meant we could all do it together. Thanks for the experience team.
This was pretty awesome.. relaxed.. laid back trip through the bush.. really enjoyed it.. log cabin at the end was amazing
A very enjoyable experience for the whole family. We took our three children (aged 8, 11 and 13) on this rail-cruising experience and we all had a wonderful time. The scenery was varied, there was plenty of wildlife to spot, and overall it was relaxing and really enjoyable. The blankets they supplied came in handy, and we all loved the hot chocolate at the mid-point stop. Highly recommended for other families and visitors to Rotorua.

We did the round trip from Ngongotaha. It was a unique and fun way to enjoy the countryside around Rotorua. The commentary was interesting and was only on when relevant. It's not really 'self drive' as it's fully automatic but that isn't an issue. A very clever use of a disused railway line.
Enjoyed thunkety-thunking through nature with just the right amount of commentary. Peaceful, beautiful. I picked up the bingo paper at the beginning and it really enhanced. My experience as I searched for deer and roosters and all the other things pictured. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the bingo
Very cool, interesting ride , staff friendly and johns local knowledge of the rail history was great, scenery and old equipment alongside tracks that were used along time ago
We did the return trip from Ngongotate and it was plain fun.It is relaxing, informative, because of the information that they provide through the speakers in the car and it was a original thing to do.So the novelty alone is fun,but the scenery is pretty good too.Do not expect spectacular, but it is cool to see. Also great for kids.I am sure that almost all would love the whole thing.
