View on Google MapsGetting an in depth understanding of the art and history of the Roman Empire was an enjoyable and entertaining experience led by our guide Vincenzo.
Our guide Massimo was very knowledgeable and affable. He was informative and it was a pleasure touring the Capitoline Museum with him.
Vincenzo just gave one of the most animated, information dense (upon request), and ridiculously efficient tours I've experienced. He quickly surmised where my interests were and went out of his way to incorporate them wherever possible into the limited time we had today. I could have doubled, tripled the time we spent together, forgotten about eating, and collapsed on the way out, and would have been happy for the chance!

We had such a wonderful time!! Vincenzzo was the greatest guide! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the capitoline museum and his tour was lively and very easy to follow. We loved how he would ask us question keeping us engaged in the tour and helped flow the conversation around about whatever he was showing us. This was our fifth time in Rome so we’ve had quite a few tour guides and hands down Vincenzzo was our favorite. We would 100% recommend him to however is coming to Rome and needs a tour guide!
Vincenzo made this tour amazing. He was energetic and entertaining. His tour was very interactive and he was very effective at helping us retain the facts he was conveying. I believe I recall more details from his tour than any of the others I attended previously.
This was the most entertaining and enlightening tour we have been on. Our guide Vincenzo used his extensive knowledge to interact and engage with us for the entire time we had. It was fascinating to unravel misrepresented historical events and gain tangible insight.
We had an amazing experience at the Capitoline Museums thanks to our tour guide, Vincenzo. He was absolutely fantastic—energetic, passionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. His enthusiasm brought the history and art to life, making every detail engaging and memorable. Vincenzo is by far the best tour guide we’ve had; he truly elevated the entire visit. Highly recommended!
The Capitoline Museums, three buildings in the Piazza del Campidoglio, are the main civic museum of Rome which currently offer an impressive collection of Romanesque paintings and sculptures and a vast collection of art spanning over 2,500 years of history. After the Vatican museum, the Capitoline Museums are the most important than can be visited in Rome. The history of the Capitoline Museums can be traced to 1471 when Pope Sixtus 1X donated a collection of important ancient bronzes to the people of Rome and located them on Capitoline Hill. Opened to the public in 1734 by Pope Clement X11, the museums are considered to be one of the oldest in the world. The artifacts are housed in the Palazzo dei Conservatori, the Palazzo dei Nuovo and the Tabularium, an ancient Roman building that is home to a collection of Roman law tablets, an insight into the way the Roman government functioned and once housed the city's archives. Must-see attractions include the Capitoline She-Wolf, the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, the Dying Gaul and the Hall of Emperors. The She-Wolf is an iconic baroque statue created in the 5th century BC, one of the symbols of Rome. The Dying Gaul is a marble statue, a copy of a Greek original. The Hall of Emperors is a collection of marble busts of Roman emperors, including Julius Caesar, Augustus and Trajan. Also see works by Caravaggio and Titian in the Pinacoteca Capitolina, an art gallery featuring the oldest public collection of painting, and frescpes in the Hall of Horatii and Curiatii. Not to mention breathtaking views of Rome from the Terrazza Caffarelli. The Capitoline Museums are open daily from 9:30 to 7:30.
Vincenzo was an excellent guide! He was both very knowledgeable and very entertaining, and that is rare. He also communicated clearly and effectively so we never had to worry about where to go or what to expect. Our first private tour but wouldn’t be our last if we could expect future leadership like Vincenzo’s. Recommend without any conditions.
A wonderful private tour with Vincenzo! My husband and I love ancient Roman history and we learned so many great things, saw stunning pieces and had fun! Vincenzo is super knowledgeable and passionate about his subject which is always a great combination, we loved it!
