We had an outstanding private tour of Rome from Civitavecchia, and our driver and guide Andrea made the entire experience truly special. From the moment we met him, Andrea was warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. His knowledge of Rome is exceptional — he shared fascinating history and context at every stop, from the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon to the Colosseum and beyond, bringing each site to life in an engaging and easy-to-follow way. He was also fantastic at navigating the busy city and the crowded historical sites, keeping everything running smoothly and stress-free. As a bonus, Andrea took us to what was easily the best pizza we had in Rome, which added a wonderful local touch to the day. This tour was informative, seamless, and perfectly paced. Andrea’s expertise and attention to detail made it an unforgettable experience, and we highly recommend him to anyone visiting Rome.
We had a fabulous time, however if can avoid Sunday and a Catholic holiday, you would have less crowds. So glad we had a driver take us around and tell us about the sights, instead of doing Rome on our own.

Our tour of Rome was absolutely amazing and we were especially grateful for our driver, Alex Paolini. Alex was very attentive to our needs regarding my husbands physical challenges and made sure we did the least amount of walking but still saw the sites. Thank you Alex for a wonderful day!
Wow! This was an amazing experience! Beatrice was beyond knowledgeable and gave us so much great information. She is such an awesome tour guide. Told us the best places for pictures, directions to see the best sites. She gave us ample amount of time at all the places we wanted to go. We saw almost everything on our “list” and then some. She started our day at a quaint bakery where we had pastries and coffee. We would not have been able to do this on a large group tour. We also were able to get places that the bus tours would not have been able to take you. She is so informative and answered any questions that we had. She is very passionate about her work and loves Rome so much. It showed in her excitement of sharing the city with us. I would highly recommend this excursion!

Alex Paolini was very friendly, efficient, and extremely willing to help make things happen! We had to divert around police blockade for Pope activity and he made the best of that difficult situation. Overall rating is a 5 out of 5!
We had one day in Rome and wanted to make the most of it. We booked Civitavecchia to Rome City: Private Tour of Rome Highlights through Viator. Our driver, Alex Paolini, picked us up as we disembarked our ship and whisked us off to Rome. We saw all the major sites with time to walk around at our own pace and take pictures at each location. With Alex we were able to see everything we wanted to see; St Peter's Basilica, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Colosseum, and Circus Maximus. Afterwards, he took us out of the tourist area to a neighborhood restaurant with delicious Italian cuisine. We ended with Alex driving us back to Civitavecchia right at our ship to reboard. I highly recommend this tour and asking for Alex as your driver.
Salvatore, our guide/driver, was the one of the best private tour drivers we had during our cruise trip. He was prompt, accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure everyone was happy. Travelling in a group of 6 with both toddler and seniors, he ensured we had enough time to see all the famous landmarks in Rome but also to avoid any places that might be too crowded or unsafe for our group. Furthermore, he took us to beautiful viewpoints which were not overcrowded for group photos and recommended a lunch spot which was one of his own personal favourites. Unlike a typical touristy spot, they served authentic Italian food enjoyed by locals. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend him to others.
Our driver Paolo was excellent. He took us to several places in the city we were not aware of and provided a lot of great information all along the tour. He gave us a great tip to skip the line to get into St. Peter’s Square and Basílica which worked excellent.
