I asked many many questions prior to booking and the tour operators were courteous and tried to accommodate our requests as best they could. The driver was easygoing and drove very well and the car was clean and well kept. The hotel was an upgrade, which was a nice surprise! Bihar is beautiful and Nalanda and Bodh Gaya were magical and offered a really spiritual experience. We hired a guide throughout. We were two women traveling and we highly recommend having a guide for Rajgir only for safety reasons. We went on Christmas day and the crowds were understandably intense. Paying for a guide made it easier to move around and also learn the history of the space. Our guide in Bodh Gaya was Rakesh, he was knowledgeable, funny, and very mindful of our needs.
