View on Google MapsVery good experience overall. The tour was well organised and delivered everything promised in the itinerary. We shared parts of the tour with people on a one day tour and on a three day tour, booked from different agencies - so it seems whichever channel you book, the experience will end up being very similar. The two ruins on day one were both amazing. Yaxchilan had very little restoration - it is integrated with the jungle and feels very authentic. The murals at Bonampak were fascinating. The jungle walk on day two was about 1-1.5 hour one way and all flat. It's muddy, so good shoes are important. Bring also insect repellent. We had one hour to swim at the waterfall, which was definitely a highlight! Water was very clean and not cold. We didn't want to leave! The cabin was basic but all right. It has a private bathroom and even hot water for shower. There's electricity and a fan in the room. Tap water was on and off. We slept well listening to the running creek right outside of the window. We had three meals at the cabin. Food was good. Portion was not big enough for my teenager sons 😊. There was some confusion about whether and which meals were included in the package, but it was sorted out after the driver called the agency - this seems to be a recurring issue described also in other reviews. We were told that we will be picked up around 5pm the second day, but a driver came already after lunch, so we were back in palenque around 6pm. All in all it was two great days away from the crowd and close to the nature!

I made the two-day trip. It was well planned, on the first day two ruins are visited, Yaxchilan (accessible by boat) and Bonampak. The transports to it are inclusive but not the guides, and if you divide it into groups, it's not that much either. It's only in Spanish. Lunch is also not included and quite expensive as it is a 3 course menu. (235 pesos incl. drink for vegetarian menu) The overnight stay is in a beautiful cabaña directly on the river (stream), where you can also swim in the evening. The next day we have breakfast, then a jungle hike to a small ruin and then to the waterfall. That was incredibly beautiful and the guide knows so much about the jungle the plants and animals. At the waterfall he also showed us a cave. We could safely swim there for 1.5 h before running back. At about 4 pm you will be picked up. The owner of the Cabaña always knows about the whole program. All in all the best I have experienced in my two months of Mexico trip. If you have more time, you can also go there on your own, but note that they charge quite a lot for a guide.
Wow This trip was totally worth it. We had a great time visiting the archeological sites, we did pay for a guide. There is just so much history there that is important you absorb all the Information. We had such a blast, we meet new people. We did the walk to the waterfall and another small arqueológicas sure with a great young guide; a Mayan girls called Vania chambor Espinoza. 13 year old who knows her way around the jungle. We learned about animals and medicinal plants; and to top it off we swam for more than an hour in the waterfall. Honestly such of a great adventure. Thing you need to know, there is no internet, you can buy at the small convenience store they give you a code which is for 1 hour and the cost is 25 pesos per hour, keep in mind that if you want to use it you have to be close to the store, I was to far away but I used it the next day; also no TV, the point of this is unplugged from electronics; instead we enjoyed the night sky and a couple of beers. The Lacandon people are super nice and very helpful. We had a blast. I hope you do to.
