View on Google MapsOverall positive experience. You will have a guide who will take you to the two falls and then you will have to wait for another guide who will take you to San Cristobal. IMPORTANT! DO NOT EAT WHERE YOU CHENZLE THE GUIDE!! Once you arrive at the agua Azul Falls you will be left in front of the restaurant la escondida... practically forcing you to eat there (maybe it takes a percentage?)... it is absolutely the worst restaurant where you can eat in Mexico! Trust me, go away and eat in other places nearby that is full!
Parts of the booking were not fullfilled. Handling by viator before the trip was generally okay. I would do it differently next time.
Great waterfalls! Really nice to go if you are taking the route to San Cristobal. Unfortunately we were handed over to another tour bus halfway through the tour, because of that we couldn’t sit next to each other anymore. The trip from Agua Azul to S. Cristobal takes about 5 hours with lots of turns. We felt it was a very long trip after such a day. Luckily they played a movie in the car which made the time go by a bit faster. If you search the organizer online they have a WhatsApp number where they react very quick. It was easy to reschedule even a day in advance!

We booked this tour as a way to visit Agua Azul and get to San Cristobal on the same day. Although a convenient way to do both in one day, I’m not sure I would recommend it. There was very little communication prior to the departure day and no details of the exact itinerary. The part from Palenque to Misol-Ha (a 30 min stop) and Agua Azul (we had almost 3 hours there) was all good, but then we had to wait for 1 hour in the middle of a busy intersection, without aircon in the van, for another van to pick us up. This was extremely uncomfortable and on top of that, when the van arrived, it was full and the two of us had to share the 2 seats in the front, with the middle seat being extremely uncomfortable during the 5 hour drive. The middle seat should not be sold for such long trips. We arrived in San Cristobal after 11pm. The tour wasn’t cheap and we would expect a higher level of service and comfort for the price. The driver Raymundo was nice and friendly, but there are some logistical problems the company needs to sort out.
Splendid unique impressive. Walk along the waterfalls, swim in turquoise water! Stands selling drinks and various handicrafts and food
The road is dangerous maybe but we felt secure, nothing happened to us, the driver was greeting all the police men along the road and seemed relaxed and we saved money and time taking this route, just like many other travelers we heard doing the same. You probably can’t be 100% sure but we didn’t regret it and would do it again.
Dear fellow travelers Last September 2023 we traveled through Mexico with a rented car. From the town of San Cristobal de Las Casas we had to drive about 300km through the mountains to Palenque. (Only possible route and planned this way by our travel organization TUI) Unfortunately, we have been on this route several times by self-manufactured blockages (stones on the road, self-made spike strips, buses or trucks with flat tires or large stones of around 50 kg). forced to stop by local citizens (criminals). It was said there is no passage. Unfortunately, this was the only route to our destination and we knew nothing wrong with it. We wanted to continue and we were forced several times to pay an amount of 500 pesos by many men armed with machetes and gummy clubs to be allowed to continue. After payment we had to remove the blockade ourselves under the supervision of the many smiling locals to be able to continue. We obviously felt so unsafe and anxious throughout the entire route that this affected our holiday for a long time and after speaking to the authorities in our destination Palenque. He confirmed that this has been a problem for years but the government is doing nothing about it and has little confidence in our travel organization. We reported this to our travel organization TUI, who reacted regretfully but actually had little response. After our holiday (fortunately we are safe again in the Netherlands) we were able to put everything in order and we try to put the nice things we saw in Mexico first. So it has been a problem with this route for years and we really regret that despite there being several reviews and messages online that we have been suggested this route. With this review I hope to warn future travelers to definitely NOT take this route and to avoid this route. Nevertheless, I wish everyone a lot of fun traveling. The rest of Mexico is really beautiful and the country and the vast majority of the population are really worth exploring. Kind regards and have fun traveling! Michael
Tour organizzato molto bello anche se noi abbiamo trovato una giornata di pioggia. Modo più veloce per arrivare a San Cristóbal da Palenque. Gli orari che ci sono scritti sono molto precisi.
