View on Google MapsJust wasn’t what I expected. My wife and I just walked and drove around seeing things. On a positive note we did learn a little history.
I was under the impression that it was more of a “game”. More of a search. Work off of clues. Get to the next round. Kinda game. So it was a bit disappointing when that wasn’t the case. Trying not to ruin the surprise and say what it really was. I’d probably call it something else instead of a scavenger hunt. Maybe memory makers. The amount of money this costs. It definitely wasn’t worth it. I now know in the future not to sign up for these types of games. At least maybe not in this area. It would be nice to actually have some type of reward at the end too. Doesn’t have to be costly or big. Something for the team winner.
NIGHTMARE!! There were 19 family members from little guys to adults who we all were looking forward to this adventure only to find out that Internet access was not available in that area in Nags Head, NC. Viator and the company offering this excursion would not provide a refund. Getting 19 people together to drive approximately 3 miles away to a closed Restaurant in 97* heat.Thankfully the manager answered my banging on the door & gave me access to the restaurant's Wi-Fi confirming the Internet was horrible in that area which allowed me to call both Viator and iPaul the contact for this Internet scavenger hunt. I sent text messages thatwe were unable to play due to the circumstances. All the adults have excellent working phones, but how we play a game when there was no access and how could we not be refunded when we were totally unable to enjoy the event due to circumstances beyond our control. Viator offered $278.20 credit which we have no plans to go on vacation in the next six months so that did not work for me and I felt absolutely disappointed because I always use Viator because when things don't work out like this, Viator works with the provider to reconcile the situation satisfactorily.

We wanted fun to do for the day and saw this. Decided this could be fun. Let me tell you we had a blast!!! Going from place to place and seeing different things, learning new things about the area. Fun for all ages. We will be doing another one in another area!!!
This activity is unlike anything we had done before. It took us off guard to play such a unique game! This hunt gave us the chance to be challenged to find local spots, let our inner child have fun and crack up with each other. I would highly recommend this activity to those who want to try something new, get a little silly and overall enjoy each others time together. It was my mom, boyfriend and self and we absolutely loved it. We created videos for most of our “missions” and now we’ll be able to look back in those videos and memories we made.
The ladies at Gnarly Nags Head were absolutely delightful. Providing us with encouragement and wonderful banter, it was an experience I believe everyone should try at least once! We were a mother-daughter duo on vacation from Indiana, we never knew what these were! In fact, we have never heard of them, but we would absolutely do it again! Everything was close in vicinity, and easy to get to (some of them). An opportunity for new places to try as well! Overall, I rate it a 5 star experience. I encourage people of all ages to do this. Coordinated via WhatsApp by our virtual guide MaryAnna, we were provided a list of missions and bonus point opportunities which allowed us to explore the area and have ready access to a local expert for answering any questions. It was a great, family fun afternoon and certainly worth a try, if in the area! Thank you.
This experience was AMAZING! Kat was with us the entire way via phone, checking in regularly and encouraging us to keep going to earn more points to add to our final score (which was awesome to see)! We will definitely do another adventure with Kat should we end up at a location she’s designed other awesome experiences for! Note: Two adults and one 7 year old (our daughter) partook in this activity in OBX - Gnarly Nags Head experience :)
Such a fun-filled journey! Our personal event guide and cheerleader, MaryAnne, was positively wonderful and very helpful. We had a chance to explore more of the beautiful area of Nags Head and have a hilariously good time - truly an unforgettable experience!
