Our tour guide, Patsy, did an outstanding job of explaining the significance of the buildings and locations on the tour as well as the people involved. This was a great introduction to the colonial era in Newport and Rhode Island.
Loved learning about Newport colonial history from a guide who is very knowledgable about the history of the area: inspirational events and characters, the wellspring of the revolutionary war and it's beginnings built on freedom of religion and separation of church and state. I took the tour on a Friday in April and discovered that it is a great time of the year to do this before seasonal surge of crowds. The museum of Newport building itself has an excellent video exhibit upstairs(inside the carriage), perfect to watch before or after the tour. The cost of the tour is so reasonable too for all the history lessons that it encompasses.. that stay relevant to today. I highly recommend this for history lovers. Delightful way to spend an hour and a half walking around Newport while learning how it all started.

Patsy was very knowledgeable and helpful with the history of Newport. The tour lasted about an hour and a half with frequent stops at landmarks that we went back to on our own after the tour. She knew a lot of the history of Newport and the buildings and we were happy with the insight she provided. Learned a lot about the early days of Newport.
