View on Google MapsThis was an amazing day with Alfredo whose 30 years of touring was evident in his knowledge and enthusiasm for our adventure. We highly recommend this itinerary in that you will be exposed to local artisans, pre Columbian ruins as well as having an appreciation of the Spanish who date back to the early 1500’s.
participating in the die des muertos was a unique, unforgettable and soul-enhancing experience. But too many, too many tourists. an exaggeration
What a day!! I loved all three cities but the highlight for me was Santa Clara del Copra. Getting to see how much work goes into making the copper pieces was awesome, plus they let us try our hand at it too. Alfredo is super informative, plus just a nice guy. We scheduled three tours with him and he made each tour special. Lunch on this tour was at a beautiful location. On the top of the highest point over looking the lake we enjoyed a really good lunch. The food was excellent and the view even better. I'm glad we had Alfredo as a guide for these three cities because he knew exactly where to go. If we had rented a car we wouldn't have seen as many of the important sites in each location. Wear your walking shoes and have fun.

My husband and I took the three city Pueblo Magico Tour with Alfredo and it was a fantastic experience! From the moment we got into his car, Alfredo began speaking about Michoacan and the cities we were about to see. He has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of everywhere we went and then some! The ruins in Tzintzuntzan with the Franciscan church and amazing views of Lake Patzcuaro, Patzcuaro with it's history of Bishop Quiroga, the cloistered nuns with their aqueduct and Alfredo's anecdotal stories including the reason that the town is painted white and red, along with Santa Clara Del Cobre with the magnificent copper goods and the chance to hammer copper alongside a maestro in the craft! Did I mention the views going to and coming from our destination towns? They are just unbelievable and for good measure we were treated to a rainbow! I very highly recommend Alfredo Tour Guide to anyone wanting to visit magical towns and learn their history.
We used Alfred to take us on the 3 towns tour - Tzintzuntzan, Pátzcuaro and Santa Clara del Cobre. We had a lovely day of touring and were tired by the time we returned. He arrived at our Hotel 1.5 hours late due to car repairs but he did contact us to let us know. He did not shorten the tour due to this mishap. Alfred is bilingual which was helpful since my wife is just learning Spanish and I am moderately proficient. Alfred was friendly, had water in the car and took us to an EXCELLENT restaurant for lunch, "Restaurant Camino Real". The restaurant was a questionable bit at first since we pulled into an Oxxo and gas station, but then we went inside. This place was warm and friendly and truly a local gem. The food was amazing!! Alfred was very knowledgeable of the history and structures. I understand the archeology, the towns and the copper industry. We were very pleased with his entire day. On that note the only change I would make would be to stay a bit less time in Tzintzuntzan and more time in Pátzcuaro. I would not hesitate to use Alfred for other tours in the future. We took two tours with Alfredo during our stay in Morelia. The first was the Coco Tour and the second was the 3 Pueblos Mágicos. He really is the best you can find in Michoacán and we feel so fortunate that we connected with him. His tours are personable, full of history and cultural facts, and he will take you to find the best quality artesanías. This trip was really special for us, not only because it we got take part in how different towns celebrate Día de Muertos, but also because we came to Michoacán so that I could connect with the State where my family originally came from, and Alfredo was a big part of making that happen for me. Between seeing the catrinas of Capula, to eating carnitas in Quiroga, to hammering copper in Santa Clara del Cobre, we made some of our best memories thanks to Alfredo.
