Route Touristique Skanes - BP 75, Monastir, 5060, Tunisia
View on Google MapsA lot of travelling , of course, but there were conveniently spaced stops for toilets, coffee, etc. en route. There was adequate time built in to enjoy each location. If not availing oneself of the camel riding opportunity, there was not much else to do at the location - although some did say they enjoyed the opportunity for a walk. The Kairouan Mosque photo opportunity turned out to be from the roof of carpet warehouse but gave a good view. The demonstration of wares involved no hard-sell, and the asking prices struck us as being remarkably inexpensive - such that we began to wish we had the need for such an item. Downstairs, there was a range of craft items and other souvenirs for sale - again at unusually attractive prices. The coach was comfortable and the driver very good. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative, and fluent in at least 3 European languages: English, German and French. (His commentary was given in English and in German, but with a personal translation for a couple of French speakers in the party.) His onboard commentary wasn't always easy to follow because of some distortion by the PA system possible aggravated by speaking too close to the microphone. We found the trip a very enjoyable experience.
The tour is extremely long and exhausting. Lots of hours on the bus, inevitable though to go from A to B, however all the stops were rushed whether they were for lunch or at the sites. Accomodation in Dous was horrible, very old hotel, old blanket which looked even filthy. The guide (Mr. Dali, if not mistaken) although he wasn't rude, gave us very little info, nothing that we couldn't have found out by ourselves on wikipedia or the net. During the looooong driving hours he was silent, sleeping, and he didn't share any info about the country ( that's the reason why I picked an organised tour otherwise I would have rented a car and drive to places by myself). All the lunch breaks were very fast, kind of rushed and then back on the bus to drive for hours again. No possibility to charge your phone on the bus, so bring a power bank. The driver, Mr. Maher was excellent, he drove carefully and patiently throughout the 2 days. Camel ride was a massive rip off, no sunset no sunrise due to the bad weather.

Camel experience was wonderful, 4x4 so much fun , loads of stops which was great , didn’t expect the 4.30am wake up call good job we didn’t go out in the hotel in the overnight as it was empty , fantastic experience and would recommend going .
I had the best experience on this tour. My guide, Feras, was absolutely wonderful, and Eddy, the bus driver, was also fantastic. I booked this tour because I was traveling through Tunisia alone and prefer not to rent cars when I travel. I wanted to see as much of the country as possible in a short amount of time, and we managed to do exactly that—over 1,100 km, yet nothing ever felt rushed. It was such a memorable experience, and the team made me feel genuinely welcome, even as a solo traveler. I never felt lonely, and the group was great as well. I highly recommend this experience to anyone, especially solo travelers.
This tour is really well planned. It was packed with interesting activities and everything went smoothly - it was just really fun to take part of. This is tour has something to offer for all ages and I think everybody visiting Tunisia should go on this tour. We got to see the other side of Tunisia, we would have never seen on our own.
Very good experience with Wassim that I highly recommend for those who want to discover the star wars sites, desert, Tuaregs, Berbers .. We drove 1,400km in 2 days. It was magical, Dr Wassim is passionate about his country and has this passion passed on. I have very good memories of all these little villages we visited, the sunset in the desert, the sunrise to the salt lake. The circuit in 4x4, the camel ride. Traditional meals. Al Kairaouen Mosque.. We left with bcp details and information about this beautiful country that we will not hesitate to share. Thanks also to our driver Sabri, smiling and punctual. Driving with bcp of wisdom! Thank you bcp
This trip is an absolute must if you’re in Tunisia, do not miss this! The highlight of our holiday by far. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and informative, I really learnt so much. He tries his best to keep you constantly engaged on long bus journeys. A member of our group fell off the camel during the camel ride and, while it was absolutely not his fault, the tour guide was very apologetic and ensured they were taken extra care of for the rest of the trip. The bus stops regularly so you don’t feel too cooped up, and you see so much of the country in 2 days it’s really worth it. There’s plenty more f opportunities to get out and go to the toilet or get a drink and street cu your legs. Highlights were the camel ride and the 4x4s which are a must! However all the stops are great and so interesting, Mos Espa is amazing even if you aren’t a Star Wars fan. Sahara hotel is absolutely fine for such a cheap price and the pool there is genuinely really really nice, we were in until 11pm Make sure you bring plenty of 10s and 20s and you will want to tip guides and staff along the way. I would also recommend bringing a travel pillow as we slept up the back of the bus a lot. Thanks so much to driver and guide for making this an unforgettable experience!
stay in Crete at the residence "Petra Village" dirty and unmaintained apartment, very old furniture, tiny and dirty plastic terrace table, used chairs, dishes for 2 (we were 4!) and more than summary. Sofa bed concrete and mattresses dirty and unprotected, insects underneath (silver fish, ants and torn). No air conditioning and mosquitoes at will! Swimming pool dirty and not maintained, even dangerous for children (more tile joints and dirty and broken plastic borders). At the coffee bar soluble at 3€ and no dish after 5pm. Nice personal damage and well placed residence but stay and services not up to standard.
Lovely trip! A dip in the extraordinary landscapes from Tunisia. Super top guide!! Sandy, salty, rocky desert. Recommended for those who are insatiable with nature and culture
Our tour guide was excellent, well organised, and perfectly bilingual in English and French. Special mention should be made of the very impressive and patient bus driver who made us feel safe. Along with a lovely camel ride, we visited the historic Roman El Jem Colosseum; the rock-cut homes in the village of Matmata, seen in Star Wars; the salt lake of Chott el Djerid; the 1998 Star Wars city film set at Onk Jemal; and the mosques in the city of Kairouan. Taken together, it was a wonderful family experience, which we would highly recommend to anyone!!
