View on Google MapsIf you want to see the highlights of the Iya Valley and do not have a car, you cannot beat this experience. Our guide Yuki was very knowledgeable, professional, and a great driver. She picked us up at our hotel, discussed what sights we wanted to see, then planned the ideal route. We were able to see everything on our list, including visiting the double vine bridge in late afternoon when there were almost no other tourists. This was an amazing experience and we'd recommend it to anyone looking to explore the Iya Valley.
Great day. Our guide Osakō drove us perfectly to the valley where he lives. He showed us all the beautiful places and was a perfect guide. As he went along he gave us explanations about the site we were going to see, in French on a phone. Osakō was a very pleasant company, we enjoyed the day spent with him, his level of English was not a hindrance in communication. Great Iya Valley, we highly recommend
Our taxi driver, Mr. Higashi was an unbelievable driver taking those hairpin turns up and down the valley. Knowing where, when to pull aside for traffic coming the other way seeing how narrow the roads are in this valley. It definitely made our trip more enjoyable not having to navigate and drive to the various points of interest ourselves. When I booked this tour, it had the scarecrow valley as a passby. I messaged and asked if we could stop by and do a walk around? The reply was yes, if conditions on road & weather good for that day. So, glad we picked a good day as there were so many scarecrows all with unique faces, clothing, and placed throughout this village. But, a bit sad to know the scarecrows outnumber real people living in this community. The double vine bridges lived up to the hype per descriptions in travel brochures and reviews. I concur it is a "must see and do" as part of your day in Iya Valley. The outing pace was good as we got to see all the places and not feel rushed. We had good eats at the place we stopped for lunch too! Overall, I'd recommend this activity. However, I wish we would've stayed in this area v commuting by train from Kochi. This would've given us a chance to extend our day to either visit Mt. Tsurugi, walk through Ochiai mountainside village or take the Oboke/Koboke gorge river boat cruise.
The service level is nothing short than professional. Prompt reply, direct communication, reliable on-site partners.
We did the full day tour (6 hrs) of Iya Valley in Shikoku. Our driver Osako-san was outstanding! He took us to places as described in the brochure but added things as time permitted. He lives in the area so he had a lot of local knowledge. His english was limited but with help of his electronic translator he communicated very well. He helped us get tickets quickly to various attractions by talking to the staff so we just needed to pay and go. He took us to a restaurant in a secluded area with wonderful food and impressive woodwork. We are 100% satisfied with this tour and would recommend it.
Tthe views of the valley and locations are breathtaking. There is guided audio to help you understand more about the area. My driver was very professional and kind. Having a car to take you to places cuts out on unecessary waiting. Very much worth it.
This excursion allowed us to see the most beautiful corners of the Iya Valley. Through winding and narrow paths, we were able to easily admire the best corners. Of course, the ivy bridges remain the highlight of the excursion, but the whole walk is beautiful. Thanks to our driver (unfortunately I forgot his name, not having written my review close enough to the activity). Although we were told that he would not speak much English, he was really very good at English and knew how to guide us throughout this tour. Thanks again.
We had a wonderful tour with our taxi driver. He was very friendly and helpful, answering all our questions and even going back to retrieve the wallet I had forgotten. He also took plenty of pictures for us and drove us to a great place for lunch, making sure to find somewhere that could accommodate my allergies. He carried a portable translator to explain each spot, but even without it, we could ask him about life in the valley and he happily answered. Overall, it was a very good and memorable experience. ありがとうございました。
We really enjoyed our time at Oboke and Iya Valley! Hirao san was super helpful, kind and considerate. I had such a good time chatting with him with my limited Japanese and he introduced Iya area with so much pride. his enthusiasm was so infectious. Thank you Hirao san,お世話になりました!
We only really wanted to visit Nagaro the Scarecrow village & we're worried we'd miss the bus. But this whole trip was amazing & well worth the cost. Our driver Higashi was absolutely wonderful. He took us to lots of different places, didn't rush us or hurry us along and made sure we were happy & comfortable the whole time. A lot of the roads are extremely narrow & you really have to know where you're going so driving ourselves would have been nearly impossible. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy the Iya Valley.
