Messina, Italy
View on Google MapsThe host was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable of the city and was a wonderful chef. Her home was very clean. My mother and I felt extremely comfortable. The food was we had was of the culture in sicily. I wanted to have the opportunity to make pasta, and we did! Great experience and would highly recommend.
Maria was a wonderful host and we had the most amazing day visiting the local market and learning how to make authentic (and amazingly delicious) cannoli. Maria and her friend Dani made the day extra special for us and prepared the most amazing meal of authentic dishes and wines. Thank you for sharing your home, food, personal stories, and culture with us. It was a day that none of us will ever forget!
We had a delicious Italian meal cooked by Rossella in her home and enjoyed great conversation with her Husband, Giuseppe as well. They picked us up, went to an outdoor market to buy the food and then to their home to cook and eat. What a wonderful experience and very warm hospitality.

Mariella was wonderful and picked us up right near our port. She taught and fed us SO much; even beyond what was listed in the booking. We had caponata, focaccia, pasta, cannolis, fresh bread, homemade wine, eggplant fritters, and ravioli. I highly recommend doing this instead of being stuck in a tour van all day. The host was so sweet and sent me some recipes afterwards. I would definitely love to visit Mariella again and do another class next time I'm in Messina!
We really loved learning how to cook Sicilian dishes with Rossella. She was an excellent host and cook. It was alot of Fun. We learned how to make eggplant parmesan, mushroom pasta and tiramusu. These were all family recipes and so delicious. She hosted this cooking and eatting class in her beautiful home and it was served with yummy red wine. She gave us beautiful magnet gifts as a memory of that day. The magnets had an interesting story. They are on display on my refrigerator here in Austin TX USA. It was really nice that her husband picked us up and returned us to the cruise port that day.
We had an amazing time with Maria (and Franca). I would highly recommend cooking with Maria in her home. We toured the market and then she made us lunch. There was a demonstration, lots of wine, and many laughs. I would bring my friends and family next time and do it all again.
