What an amazing experience! Our tour guide was incredibly friendly and knowledgable about Buddhist history. We visited the birthplace of Buddha, the ruins of the palace where he had lived as a prince, and seven other temples that had been built by countries around the world. It was amazing to see such a variety of styles of Buddhist temple. Our guide actually added an extra one not in our itinerary because it was his favorite -- and indeed it was our favorite too, very beautiful! He was very responsive, giving us time to meditate when we wished, information when we wanted information, and time with each other when we wanted that. 100% recommend, do not miss!

生誕の地、ルンビニ苑を訪ねたなら、さらに西へ20km程度のカピラバストゥを訪ねてください。町の中心部から北へTilaurakotに向かいカピラバストゥ城址は、ようやく整備が進み遊歩道も整いました。幼い頃を暮らしたであろう青年シッダールタ王子を偲ぶ城跡のレンガ塀や城門の跡が残っています。諸説あるものの、このカピラバストゥ城は父王とともに暮らした所で、ブッダとなった我が息子に出会うために城から出向いたKudan跡も近くにあり信憑性は高いと思いました。ブッダに帰依したシャカ族の多くが亡くなる惨事もありますが、逃げ延びた一族がカトマンズのパタンに住む誇り高きシャキャ姓の一族とも。大変興味深く、また意義深い小旅行になるでしょう。
