Authentic Reindeer Experience and Ice Fish with Lunch in the Wild

This was the best experience we had on our whole holiday ! It felt so authentic going out to the owners holiday cabin to heat up by the fire and do ice fishing on the lake. This was well and truly worth the price we paid, our guide Pikka was extremely knowledgeable of the local area and Finnish traditions, she was fantastic !! The lunch we had was also delicious and so warming on such a cold day. Would recommend this tour to anyone who wants an authentic experience in Lapland !

One of the most amazing experiences I've had in my life. We chose 3 tours with the Soma. We were warned of the probability and best time to see the aurora boreal ...was a success. Pikka our guide and skillful to drive even on off-road roads with lots of snow was very competent and led the hunt with mastery. We saw the colorful sky dancing over us . For the next morning... With the kind and kind Heli (also a master chef...) we scheduled a visit to an authentic ranch of reindeer, there were many surprises with these kind animals. I could feed them, guide them on a walk, see the difference between the many pregnant female renes. That live in nature in summer and autumn and come back in winter for food. Fishing in the frozen lake (-41) in front of a very charming and rustic cottage where the fireplace, hot tea, authentic food and a lot of human warmth welcomed us. In summary: you will definitely have a lot of information , fun, curiosidadese and peculiarities of the Finnish life.

We had a lovely day out in the wilds of Lapland with Ellen and her sweet dog as our guides. We started with a brief coffee at their charming cabin. After that, we had the opportunity to visit a nearby reindeer farm (feeding, petting, and a training session included) before heading out to the ice-fishing spot. The meal was fantastic, and since we were the only couple that day, there was plenty of time to ask questions about the traditional Sámi way of life. Ellen had excellent insight and willingly shared her experiences with us. We wholeheartedly recommend Soma Adventures to anyone looking for an authentic half-day activity in a beautiful setting. We had such an amazing experience with Heli. Truly a wonderful Lapish experience without the tourist feel. We would highly recommend this experience for everyone. From visiting a local reindeer farm to ice fishing and lunch in Heli’s home, you feel so welcome. Heli and Ellen shared with us stories and knowledge about day to day life in Lapland and we had so much fun, the time went so fast! The day was so much fun!

We had such a special morning and lunch with Heli, visiting a reindeer farm and learning about farming in Finland. We fed them lichen, walked among them, and led one around do we could see them up close. We then went to the most beautiful lake house and had warm juice and used the compost toilet before head a short way out on the ice to catch fish. We fish at home but this was so different. The silence, sunshine and soulful location were amazing and have caught 3 fish we enjoyed them and homemade soup and cake for lunch. A truly wonderful time, we will treasure the memory forever.

The trip was awesome! The two ladies who looked after us were super nice, explained and showed us a lot. The reindeer farm was very nice and the reindeer very trusting. There was also the possibility to buy antlers there. Ice fishing was a very interesting experience and we all had success with it. The food prepared by the boss was traditional and very delicious. All in all a very nice excursion away from mass tourism.

We had an amazing experience with Heli! She is wonderful, she took us to experience the places without tourists which we can experience the real life in Levi🥹 I love the reindeer farm and ice fishing! The reindeer farm is really big and normally the other tours could only see few reindeers or ice fishing on a very crowded like but this tour is totally different!! I would say this event is really well organized and you can tell Heli puts so much effort for letting the person come to Finland to experience something really special! What I appreciate the most is Heli is really caring,we were just chatting about we wanna buy cloudberry but we can’t find it, she just shared the cloudberries with us in the most amazing wooden cabin🥰 And the dishes and desserts she prepared were delicious! I super highly recommended this tour! Thank you Heli, for having this such an amazing tour🫶 although is a new start tour but you would definitely receive more than you expected after the tour!🇫🇮🫎❄️❤️🎣 P.s.: Heli took amazing pictures hehe

Ice fishing and a visit to the reindeer farm were an absolute highlight of our holiday. We were very lucky with the weather, although it was very cold. We had the opportunity to warm up at any time. Thank you so much!!

Magnifique expérience! Guide très sympathique, prévenante et souriante! Chouette moment avec les Rennes, chalet typique avec feux de bois, repas très bon! Ensuite pêche sur la glace… magnifique vue et endroit cosy

Very nice guides who can tell you a lot and what you can ask anything about. In the meantime, you are still being photographed, with permission of course. We are very happy with it, because the pictures are super! Make sure you're properly dressed. We have been in December and it was cold. Soma also had coats that we were allowed to use and this was much appreciated during ice fishing. Unfortunately, we didn't catch anything. But you can't always get lucky. We had a great view at the lake. Then we warmed up with a delicious, homemade lunch from Heli. Everything was thought of. We have enjoyed and become experiences richer♥️
