View on Google MapsThe Magic Hour was more than a tour — it was a human experience. Our guide was incredibly authentic and generous, opening a window into everyday life in India that felt real, grounded, and deeply respectful. I didn’t just “see” Kolkata — I felt it. I walked away calmer, more present, and with the sense that I had started planting seeds — to grow roots, build memories, and truly connect with this place. This experience will stay with me long after the photos fade.
I had read a review saying: „If you do just one tour in Kolkata, choose this one.” After having joined the Tour myself, I fully understand and agree. It was fascinating, thrilling, spectacular and so much fun! Soham is the best guide I could think of, he seems to know everything about Calcutta and took us to some places I had never heard of and had such interesting stories to tell. Watching the giant city slowly waking up was worth to get up very early in the morning. I strongly recommend this experience to everyone. Guys, follow Soham!
Soham’s love and enthusiasm for his city made us fall in love with it as well. The Magic Hour tour is meticulously planned, studded with surprises all along the way and Soham’s knowledge and storytelling made it even more special. For anyone wanting to gain an in-depth understanding of Calcutta, the people, the food, the architecture, this is absolutely the tour to do.
This walking tour was one of our highlights from our visit to Kolkata! My father grew up in the city and we grew up visiting every other year, but this walk gave us the opportunity to view this beautiful city with fresh eyes. Soham was the perfect, down-to-earth and knowledgeable guide. The walk was wonderfully curated, and we especially loved getting to ride the Howrah river ferry and take a ride in the Ambassador taxi. Thank you so much!
So impressed by Soham's love for his city, culture, & people and his effective work to share that with us during his sunrise tour for my wife and I. He's incredibly flexible, creative, thoughtful, and talented—this is a future civic leader in action (Kolkata can hope so, in any case). Just go ahead and book this.
This morning I took the Magic Hour tour with Soham. I am in my mid-sixties and have been visiting Kolkata since my early childhood but today, it was the first time that I walked across the Howrah Bridge; it was the first time that I took the ferry to cross the Hoogly River; it was the first time I visited Kumortuli and the Flower Matket but most magical moment was to witness the sunrise from Maidan. Thanks goes to our guide who was punctual, knowledgeable, warm and enthusiastic. I highly recommend this tour. Well done Soham.
Soham is a connoisseur of Kolkata and a great guide. It was even fun to get up early because it started at 5:30 a.m. We have gained many deeper insights into life in Kolkata, away from the hustle and bustle of the day. Many stations, on foot, by authentic yellow taxi, by bus, by ferry and by motor rickshaw. The flower market in the morning is a wonderful experience. We crossed the Howrah Bridge with the desired vibes. Soham not only led a great tour but also took excellent pictures of us.
I had the most amazing experience with Soham on the morning light tour. The tour visited a range of places including the flower market and deity making district where Soham shared so many details about Kolkata's history and culture. It was fun to travel across the city using different modes of transport, we tried some local foods, and all in all it was a fantastic way to experience to the city. Soham is a knowledgeable and passionate guide, and I'd recommend Calcutta Capsule tours to anyone looking for a unique way to experience and understand parts of the city that you might not be able to see alone.
This was a great introduction to Kolkata. Soham is very articulate and knowledgeable, and I learned a lot about the city, past and present. Walking in the early morning means you avoid crowds and heat. I highly recommend this tour.
Loved this walking tour. 100% recommend. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Kolkata. Thank you Soham for showing us your beautiful city.
