View on Google MapsWe did two excellent tours with Unique Maui Tours: a Group Birding Tour with Wendy as a guide, and a Private Tour of the Road to Hana with Pluma, the company owner. Both were fantastic experiences, and we'd recommend this company highly to anyone interested in tours around Maui. Birding Tour: Incredibly fun and well suited to both casual and seasoned birders. Wendy's energy is infectious, and the tour has a good balance of locations and experiences while simultaneously being 'easy' enough to be done by most. Would recommend highly to anyone interested in birding who is visiting. Road to Hana Private Tour: We also really loved this tour. We felt like we got a great sense of what the road to Hana was like without ever being stuck in traffic or feeling stuck in over-crowded areas. It felt like a fun day out with a friend.
Unique Road to Hanna our guide for the day was Maika, he was excellent. His knowledge of the natural world, fables and stories was interesting. Really anything we spoke on he was easy to communicate with. Our experience was very enjoyable

Stunning scenery and our driver/ tour guide Maika who was a wonderful and very knowledgable young man. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he was a very reliable and safe driver. Ask for him
If you have to book a tour to Hana, unique is the perfect company. This is the second time going there, but with additional family members. They loved it and we loved it again. Wendy was our tour guide this time and she was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and felt like part of the family. You will not be disappointed. When I come back, they are my go to tour company. Thank you for all the amazing memories we all created.
This was an amazing day! The drive out and back is so worth it! I highly recommend using this company. From the time I booked through the excursion everyone went above and beyond. Answering all my questions prior to making sure we got to see everything we wanted. Our guide was fantastic! I just can’t say enough how great this day was!
We had a private tour for my extended family of 13. Kids ranged in age 7-15 and adults 42-69. We all agreed the tour was a highlight of our Hawaii island adventure. Our guides, Lance & Scott were so knowledgeable fun and flexible which made for a great day of exploring. We saw everything and some hidden gems while on the Road to Hana. We highly recommend them for your tour needs.
Lance was a great guide. He shared a lot of information about Hana and Maui in general. We have beautiful memories of our trip and are thankful for a truly unique experience.
When my spouse and I travel, we always make an attempt to take smaller, locally-owned tours. We find them more personal, flexible, and fun. Unique Maui Tours did not disappoint. In fact, out of all the tours we’ve been on, their Road to Hana tour was easily one of the best. Our tour guide, Lance, was friendly, knowledgeable, and a delightful road-trip companion. He came prepared with stories, local slang, natural history, fun facts, snacks, and extra towels. From our first stop to see the sea turtles to our last stop to see a double rainbow over the Haleakalā crater, we had an absolute blast. Lance provided everything we asked for (waterfalls and the black sand beach) and then provide more (bamboo forests, coconut ice cream, tide pools, banana bread and poke stands, and lava tubes). If you are going to take one excursion in Maui, let this be the one. Not only do you not have to drive some sketch roads yourself, but your guide will take to place you’d otherwise miss. Was worth every penny and will go down as one of our favorite days in Maui. Much mahalos!
Absolutely amazing! Made the Road to Hana unique and custom experience to cater for our kids (3 and 1). We booked for an 8 hour tour and our guide was so patient with all the toilet stops we ended up 11.5 hours and he was still laughing and joking and creating more bespoke stops. One of our best private tour experiences. Thank you Lance for a really special experience, one we will remember for a lifetime filled with so many firsts like swimming in a waterfall and going into off road lava tunnels with our kids.
Incredible tour of the eastern parts of Maui (Road to Hana). We opted for the UNIQUE tour which did an entire loop instead of a “there and back” trip. So glad we did because the landscape changes so dramatically on that 2nd half of the drive - it was breathtaking. Our tour guide Lance was a great driver, extremely attentive to our needs, and a fantastic guide. We all thought he was a bit “green” as he sometimes couldn’t answer questions that we would have hoped he might have known - but he more than made up for that with his demeanor and his personality. (For a native Oregoner - he did okay with his knowledge of Maui!) This is a trip that we STRONGLY advise be driven by a tour guide. Although you can drive this trip by yourself, you’d be doing yourself an injustice as the driver would see nothing as he/she has to concentrate so closely on the switchbacked roads leading to and from Hana! Strongly recommend Unique Maui Tours! Sit back and enjoy while your guide does the “heavy lifting” for this trip!
