We had a 10 am reservation. There was nobody at location. We waited and waited. Nobody showed up. Do not go here, pick a place that keeps track of their bookings. We did not get a ceremony. Very disappointed. No we need to get a refund from Expedia.

It was a great way to spent the afternoon learning about the Sencha-do Japanese Tea Ceremony. We were amazed how many different tea ceremonies exist and how long it takes to learn them.
This experience exceeded my expectations. Our host was so friendly and knowledgeable, and made it really engaging. We already bought a tea set so we can have our own tea ceremony at home. 10/10 would go back - and the tea was great too :D
Very fulfilling experience! I learned a lot, not just about how the ceremony is conducted but Japanese culture and history explaining why, thanks to the instructor (friendly and communicated everything clearly).
The studio was very traditional and Kyo was a great teacher, very patient and respectful of their traditions
My friend and I had a really enjoyable time. Being able to chat and ask questions to the host throughout the ceremony made it even more interesting. The read was delicious too!
We found the tea school easily by the advice from the host. We were touring the Kitano area and close to the great Kitano Tenman Shrine there is the Kyoto branch of Higashiaberyu Sencha school. We were greeted by the young master (wakasoushou) of the school himself. He had specifically travelled from Tokyo to instruct us. In the waiting room we received cooling cold tea and were treated to a short video explanation of the history of this special tea ceremony. Afterwards, we received a demonstration of a casual and enjoyable Sencha ceremony. After that, a hands on workshop for brewing the tea was conducted and we enjoyed a chance to ask questions and received certificates for completing the workshop.
We learned so much and had so much fun I’d highly recommend for anyone looking to learn more about this part of Japanese culture.
