View on Google MapsI had the most amazing time. Gertrude is an absolute pleasure. I was greeted with a friendly welcome and I learned a lot about the local tribe and food that they were known for. The food was also delicious!
It was a very enjoyable morning into early afternoon. Gertrude proved to be a pleasant instructor as well as host just as the reviews spoke of her. It was plenty of work in order to learn the names of the foods and how to cook them traditionally. It will be a memorable Uganda experience.
We had an amazing time at the cooking class with Gertrude in Kampala! She was such a friendly and welcoming host, making the whole experience feel personal and fun. We explored some really interesting local ingredients I had never used before, which made it even more special. The highlight for me was the mega tasty peanut sauce—absolutely delicious and something I’ll definitely try to recreate at home. Highly recommended if you’re looking for an authentic and flavorful Ugandan food experience!

Gertrude was a wonderful and sweet host! We got to know the native plants that are used in everyday life and how to peel, process and consume them in a very traditional way! (banana leaves!!) We enjoyed spending this time with Gertrude and her adorable little son in their home; chatting, dancing and sharing stories as well as cooking skills! Thank you for this delightful experience!
We enjoyed Gertrude’s cooking class a lot. Gertrude is a knowledgeable and fun teacher. We talked a lot about the specific ingredients and regional preferences. I love that the food is purely plant based and that we were welcomed into Gertrude’s residence. Thank you!
The cooking class was fantastic. I was the only guest. The hostess showed me how to peel and steam various vegetables according to Ugandan style, how to make the corresponding sauce from ground nuts and told me a lot about Ugandan cuisine and the country. There was a mango pineapple juice and fresh avocado. From their house you have a wonderful view over Kampale. She is with a lot of heart in the matter that the cooking class was a truly unforgettable experience.
It was a great experience! Gertrude is an amazing women. She is kind and she knows everything about the food en the background of it. I felt myself most welcome with her.
A great authentic Ugandan cooking class experience. We really enjoyed our class, the food and Gertrude's hospitality
My daughter and I had a wonderful time cooking traditional food with Gertrude. She is most informative and hospitable. Hygiene was paramount and we helped prepare the fresh vegetables she had purchased earlier in the day. This was a healthy choice for us as we are vegetarian. It was a brilliant experience and we highly recommend it. PS her son was on school holidays and he was well-behaved and fun to be around.
Really enjoyed this whole experience, the lessons learned for Getrude about the traditional cooking as she learned from childhood, the stories about living in Uganda and off course tasting the delicious food!
