View on Google MapsLast year, me and my friends went to Kalaw and we all wanted to explore culture of people in shan state, viewtiful sightseeing, wonder of nature, adventure that we never have done before. So I made a contact with Joe Joe who could show the detail of hiking and trekking paths around his own beautiful town, Kalaw.Although my native town is Kalaw but I live in Yangon for education purpose.I actually don't know where the viewtiful sights exist and we all wanted to discover the new places which people still don't know.Joe Joe was very reliable, kind, patient, and very helpful at sharing his knowledges and made a wonderful trip for all of us.We visted Kalaw Viewpoint, Taungyi, Inle, Pindaya, Ywar ngan and had so many fun moments there.Joe Joe was very hospitable throughout the journey and I recommend for those people who want to explore the beauties of Shan state, you need to contact with him and.I am pretty sure you will have wonderful memories in your life.Have fun and enjoy your life!
We trekked to Inle Lake with Ko Kyaw Kalaw Trekking. It was such an enjoyable, authentic experience. The hospitality showed by Ko Kyaw and his family and the others working with them was boundless and genuine. We arrived earlier than expected and they welcomed us graciously in their home and even fed us a delicious meal! Their kids were sweet and welcomed us warmly too. We truly felt like part of the family. Ko Tun was our guide. The trek itself was mostly easy. Moderately strenuous in some areas. I recommend packing very light. They provide everything you need in terms of food and drink and even bedding. The food was outstanding! Delicious, plentiful, locally sourced.
It was Kalaw's first time trekking with Ko Kyaw. He is knowledgeable, personable, providing information not only about our planned trek but also in general about the Shan state and the ethnic groups around this region. He took us on a different route to enjoy a different view and passed through beautiful mountains, a plantation of villagers. Delicious organic lunch prepared by the local chef who was waiting for us in the village, all the food and fruit there so fresh, healthy and so sweet, I also won't forget the taste of watermelon and avocado salad . Thank you so much Ko Kyaw for giving us such good service more than we expected. Unforgettable trip of a lifetime and we will never forget this incredible experience. Highly recommended. I will come back and meet you again!
We are swiss and we made the trek with Ko Zaw. The way which is choosen is incredible, we dont see any tourist on the way. Ko Zaw is a really nice guide, he speaks very well English and has many knowledge specially about the Myanmar culture. The trek was quite hard because its very hot during the low season but Im really proud to be arrived at the end! We have one of the best memories in Myanmar and we really recommend the trekking tour with Ko Zaw. See you soon Cindy & Quentin
We're two french people. After finding the contact details of Ko Kyaw Kalaw Trekking on a forum, we met our contact person in Kalaw, the day before our three-day trek. And the next day, we set off in the Burmese countryside, discovering sumptuous landscapes, meeting still very welcoming villagers with Ko Zaw, our guide, our companion and also our friend. We had the pleasure to share the local populations closely, since we slept among the villagers with whom we laughed, we also exchanged with gestures, smiles.... And the arrival on the lake is a magical end of trek! The separation with our guide is a moving moment.... We strongly recommend the agency Ko Kyaw Kalaw Trekking for its work and also its human side. Thanks for all, Ko Kyaw Kalaw team.
The trek from Kalaw to Pindaya was amazing. We never saw any other tourists. The villages we passed were clearly rarely touristed. The children were excited to see us and would wave happily. Despite being the dry season and post harvest, the countryside plantations were beautiful, and we were able to see mandarin, tea, avocado, and mustard crops. The landscape varied as we progressed through the countryside. Ko Zaw was very knowledgeable about both the region and farming, having grown up in the area himself. He was a great companion who made us feel relaxed and told interesting stories about his life. The cook, Ko King, was very funny and made delicious food every meal. Accommodations were simple and authentic homestay experiences. After arriving in Pindaya we visited the limestone cave, had lunch, and were dropped off at the bus station to Inle Lake. This was a great, peaceful, non-touristy alternative to the hugely popular Kalaw to Inle Lake trek.
