Before Gülşah invites you to her beautiful home, she tells you more about various Turkish dishes and foods on a tour of the neighborhood. This is super interesting and you learn a lot. Gülşah’s warm and funny nature makes you feel right at home. It also offers space for exchange and you learn a lot about their cultures from the other guests. If I come to Istanbul again I will be part of this cooking class again. Thank you Gülşah
There is something remarkably warm and authentic about learning from a local to cook delicious Turkish food in their own home. Gülşah made us feel so welcome and giving precise instructions with explanations, while warmly chatting about life in general, getting us to create together a starter, mains and dessert with ease. Many thanks also to Ezgi, who was there to record the lovely interactions and who made sure to take me around the local markets as I had arrived late.
We had a great time, a great meal and really enjoyed the company of Gulşah and two friends. We also got to see some of the local shops and food markets. Beautiful produce, really good deli and much more, including many samples. Totally recommend this.

We had such a great experience with Gülşah. She helped us create some very tasty and authentic Turkish food and was very accommodating to our dietary requirements. Gülşah's tour of her neighbourhood gave us insights into Türkiye and Istanbul life we would not have experienced otherwise. As a chef, I can confidently say this was one of my favorite cooking classes I’ve taken anywhere in the world. Gulsah was an incredible host—warm, knowledgeable, and deeply passionate about her food and culture. She welcomed us into her neighborhood, guided us through local markets, and encouraged us to taste, talk, and truly connect along the way. We then cooked together in her beautiful home, preparing cherished family recipes passed down from her mother. Every dish was thoughtful, soulful, and absolutely delicious. I’m already excited to recreate them back home. I would wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic, memorable, and truly special culinary experience
Gulsah was such a lovely hostess. She took her time walking us through her neighborhood markets. Her home was very clean and cute. The food we prepared was traditional, yummy, and was easy to prepare. This was probably our favorite experience from our time in Istanbul. Highly recommend.
This was a highlight of my travels. I usually try to take a cooking class everywhere I travel in the world. This was one of the best because it is in her home and not a commercial kitchen or big tour group. I highly recommend and she was super fun!
Gülşah was a great host!! We went to some local shops for some ingredients and got a taste of the local community. Cooking itself was a lot of fun and Gülşah explained all the recipes very well. Having dinner together and exchanging culture and language was a lot of fun. Overall a very nice experience that I would definitely recommend to anyone that is looking for a more local experience of Istanbul!
A delightful introduction to the food culture of Türkiye starting with the neighbourhood specialty shops to the preparation of some dishes through to the customs and traditions that relate to family and food. Do not miss this experience when in Istanbul! Our hostess Gulsah was generous with her knowledge and patient with us novices! Just superb! Note that you must walk for a kilometre or so, and climb 5 flights of stairs. Well worth it! Highly recommend!!
