We had an incredible two days exploring Madeira with Val. He’s not only extremely knowledgeable about the island but also passionate about sharing its history. He tailors each trip to your interests and needs. Since it was our first time in Madeira, Val made sure we experienced as much as possible taking us off the beaten path to places most tourists never get to see. One of the highlights was standing 6,000ft up, looking down at the clouds. We had a great experience trying local wines and food while taking in breathtaking views. I wanted to bring some local produce home, and Val went out of his way to make sure I found what I was looking for. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide thank you!

Val has more knowledge of the history, culture, and character of Madeira than he could fit into 8 hours. We fully enjoyed every minute and feel like we’ve made a new friend.

You should not expect a hop on hop off and immediately star hail! But what you can be sure of! You see extraordinary streets/corners you learn an incredible amount you taste great wines and you eat sooo delicious! Very good tour of various parts of the island. Extended visits to a vineyard/winery and a Madeira winery. Val gave as an informative overview of the history, geography and economy of the island. Val is a very knowledgable resident, experienced guide and a fine driver. Our tour was in English but he also described tours with other languages and his willingness to customize based on interests and preferences of his guests. I would thoroughly recommend Val and his tours.

We enjoyed a great tour of Madeira with a genial and knowledgeable driver. The day included two wine tasting visits, and culminated with a spectacular New Year's Eve firework display. Brilliant!

Our guide, Valdemar, was outstanding. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The wine tasting was informative and enjoyable. We saw bits of the island which were off the beaten track that we would never have found on our own. We lunched in a simple restaurant where local workers go to lunch and had delicious simply grilled trigger fish. The tasting of Madeira wines was great, with generous servings of high quality wine, and was a bargain. After our trip he kindly gave us other recommendations of restaurants and activities. A great day , well worth it!
