View on Google MapsDavid was prompt, informative and funny. It was like having a Mayan history teacher who also knew Guatemalan plants and wildlife. His English was perfect! Was the best day of hiking/learning about Tikal -finishing with an incredible sit down lunch. Would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn about Tikal and Guatemala
We would totally recommend using Luis and booking a tour! His personal insights were enlightening and helped us learn so much from our hours with him. When we finished the tour he felt like family! We can’t wait to return!
We took a day trip with Luis Guerra from Tikal Native and I can’t recommend him enough! We visited a local market, museum, took a boat ride to an island with monkeys and toured Flores and Peten. Our guide has extensive knowledge of the history of the Mayan people and the country, the archaeology, flora and fauna of the area. I would absolutely book more tours with Tikal Native and recommend to friends and family!

Our Tikal adventure was unforgettable, and it’s all thanks to our exceptional guide, Luis! From the moment we landed, Luis went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and engaged. He met us at the airport with a friendly driver and a spotless, safe van, instantly putting us at ease. We were blown away by Luis’s impeccable English – he’s one of the most skilled bilingual guides we’ve encountered! Our group had diverse needs, with two people in their 30s and two seniors, and Luis tailored the experience perfectly for everyone’s abilities and interests. His sensitivity to our comfort was outstanding. While ascending one of the pyramids, I felt lightheaded from the sun, and Luis’s care was unmatched. He prioritized our well-being by providing regular breaks, guiding us to shaded areas, and checking in often. Luis’s knowledge of Mayan culture and history is remarkable. His background in hieroglyphics is clear in his detailed and fascinating explanations, which added an incredible depth to the experience. As the tour wrapped up, he dropped us off in Isla Flores and recommended three fantastic local spots – an ice-cream parlor, a rooftop bar, and charming shops. If you’re heading to Tikal, a tour with Luis is an absolute must. His professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care made this trip unforgettable. Highly recommend!
Luis is the best guide we had. His knowledge is vast, he was very attentive to our needs and interest. Luis English is amazing dir to his academic years in the US where he was involved in Maya studies. Luis picked us 6am from the Guatemala City night bus, and we enjoyed the tour in the best hours. Great partner for a day trip, learning about the Maya culture, Guatemala and discussions about life 🙂
I have been very lucky to live a spiritual experience that I will carry in my heart all my life. I recommend living it with all the senses. If I had to rate Guide Luis Felipe from 1 to 10, I would rate him 11. Hopefully more people can feel all that we have experienced.
We climbed to the top of the Mayan temple in which the scene can only be described as like the scene from lion king- all of the animals bowing to us and recognising Luis Felipe as their true king of Tikal All jokes aside, Luis Felipe was an excellent guide. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and spoke fluent English so was very easy for me to understand as I don’t speak Spanish. We learnt many local tales and learnt about the history of the mayans and their traditions. Thank you Tikal Native for a fabulous tour with an ecological focus
