75 Deepwater Basin Road, Milford Sound 9679, New Zealand
View on Google MapsWater Taxi driver was amazing, we would highly recommend this hike. The route was very well paved and scenic.
Boat driver was on time and efficient. Gave several return pick up options which was nice given the rain.
A short boat ride to access Milford trail The pilot was super friendly and took time to brief us The trail is easy and the scenery is stunning
Leave early to find the dock to leave from! Our booking was for 11:45 am the fiordtravel water taxi had us down for 8 am. Weather conditions, dictate pick up and drop off times our trip was cut short due to bad weather.

Jade was just fabulous at getting us sorted out with the water taxi! The taxi was smooth and safe, with immaculate views! And the Milford track is epic, would definitely do again! Thanks team
I’m so glad we booked to do a day walk on the Milford Track, we weren’t too keen to spend a couple of hours on a boat cruise so this ticked all our boxes. The instructions were easy to follow after booking. We had booked for the 1145hr slot on Thursday 13th. Heading to Milford Sound pays to add in some extra time for travel, but we didn’t expect to arrive so early at 10am. Luckily my offsider had a quick chat to the skipper Logan and asked if we would be able to go over early, Logan said it wasn’t a problem at all and that he would drop a group off and come back for us and 2 others. This meant we hit the track at 1045hr which was awesome because it gave us more time in our day. Logan provided us with lots of information before dropping us off and explained the pickup procedure. We had such a great time on the track enjoying nature at its finest. When we returned back at Sandfly point Logan was docked and we were the only people to go back over. I am so glad we booked this, Fiordland Outdoors did an excellent job in looking after us and special thanks to Logan. We will definitely be back in numbers, cheers Aaron.
This was a nice trek. It was 3.30mi to the waterfall and took about 50-60 minutes to get to. There are a number of rocky areas so be careful not to trip or hurt an ankle. It can get congested and slow you down if you are an aggressive hiker. The costs seemed a tad steep for the 5-6 minute ferry ride so I think there’s some fleecing of tourist going on there. It should reasonably be $40-$50 NZD
Great day- water taxi took us to sandfly point for drop off - trail was easy to follow and falls at end were great - taxi came back and forth frequently
Easy and simple - just works fine; getting back from Sandfly Point also easy, just wait there and taxi is coming after about 15 min
The track is mostly flat but with lots of big and not big rocks on several patches of the path, so have the right hike shoes to protect your ankles and you’ll be fine 💪☺️ It took us about 1h30 one way and we stayed 30 minutes at falls taking pictures and eating our sandwiches and then same to travel back to the boat pickup. I’d say start earlier in the day like at 10am max, and then enjoy your hike even at a snail’s pace 😋
