View on Google MapsAn absolutely unforgettable experience from start to finish. The journey from Queenstown to Milford Sound was just as breathtaking as the destination itself, with stunning scenery at every turn. The scenic cruise was incredible — peaceful, majestic, and truly humbling. A special mention to our bus driver, who was fantastic. He was caring, attentive, and made everyone feel safe and comfortable throughout the long day. His knowledge, kindness, and genuine care for passengers really stood out and made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Queenstown — a must-do experience in New Zealand.
Fabulous but long day out from Queenstown leaving early morning. Out driver Ryan (not Brian) was excellent. It was a long dive broken by stops at Te Anau for a toilet break and a couple of stops for photos. Trip on the boat on Milford Sound was breathtaking with the views. Shortly followed by return journey. Boat was two hours. Trip left at 7am and got back roughly 12 hours later, so like I have said a long day

Well arranged with a very good guide and driver. What pulls down the grade a little is the lunch, which was not very good. Triangle sandwich, chips etc, which I do not call food.
Our driver Matt was absolutely incredible. He was fun and cheeky while educating us with his broad knowledge of Queenstown and Milford Sound. Definitely recommend this tour. We had a wonderful day.
It was a great overall experience. I enjoyed how knowledgeable was our driver, she knew so much New Zealand history.
Our driver Richard was the most exciting element of the tour. Very knowledgeable and kind with a talent of mimicking chirps from local birds, he told us stories and interesting facts about the surrounding area along the way while navigating the scenic road. For people who won't spend a lot of time in Queenstown and who have visited fjords in other parts of the world (like Kenai in Alaska), you may consider postpone this 13-hour tour in favor of other activities around Queenstown. But if you've never been to a fjord before, Milford Sound is worth visiting.
What was disappointing was the way it was previously reviewed and described as a “small group.” It was stressful finding the right coach, we had no clear information about which coach would be ours, there were tons of other buses and tourists along the way. It was not a small group. If it weren’t for the super experienced and interesting Māori driver and guide I would have really felt bummed. She made our day while we felt like herded cattle. If you want a personal experience find another provider. Milford Sound and this part of NZ is stunning. The Māori guide made the experience - she was EXCELLENT. But I felt disappointed in Viator. Fortunately we could afford to fly back - which was amazing as the tourist cattle bus experience was not for us. Other people on our return flight had ditched the bus for the same reasons. New Zealand is an amazing place. Tourism is a tough industry. And feeling care for makes such a difference. The Maori bus driver made us feel cared for. Thank you to her!
Absolutely breathtaking, had picnic lunch can choose buffet. Scenery was awesome and driver very informative.
The drive there was fabulous, coupled with the commentary by our driver Annette, who was great, the views, stops all of it was awesome. Definitely worth doing, even the picnic lunch box was cute and a good combo of sandwiches and snacks.
Magnificent place. Very nicely organised tour. Knowledgeable guide. Milford sound is heaven on earth.
