View on Google MapsLed by an experienced English speaking and enthusiastic guide. First built up some theoretical knowledge, then marble processing in practice. Educational and also very special, especially when it comes to the visit to the mines.
Great tour. Once in a life time event to be able to view an operating marble quarry up close. Learned alot. Exceptional guide.
Great tour which gave a very good insight into the marble industry of Vila Vicosa, the capital of Portuguese marble. Thanks Joao. Hans & Charlotte

“I want to express my sincerest thanks to Yoao Bravinho for the incredible experience he gave us at Villa Vicosa during the Marble Tour. The visit to the marble mines was really fascinating. Learning about the history and extraction process of this iconic material was not only educational, but also inspiring. The beauty of the landscape and the cultural richness of the area make this activity a unique experience. I definitely recommend everyone to be encouraged to participate in this tour. It's super interesting and worth it! Thank you again, Joao, for your dedication and for sharing with us your passion for this special place." Marble Tour. The guide speaks several languages. Very rich experience on marble mines. The views are amazing and, above all, João is a great acquaintance, conversational and a sympathy. I highly recommend. 3 hours very well spent.
This tour was amazing. Joao our guide, was outstanding. He was a fountain of knowledge, tying Portuguese history to the production of beautiful marble. He prepared us with knowledge of geology and production which made the access to this industrial site so interesting. It was an extremely worthwhile activity that we would recommend to anyone.
Great experience. An entertaining introduction to the geology of the region and the peculiarities of marble. Then visit a marble processing plant and an active quarry. Both very impressive. The guide of our tour lives for the marble we infect with your enthusiasm and knowledge. 100% recommendation.
Joaquina made the tour fun as well as informative. We started at the education center, then went to the quarry, and finally to the fabrication facility. We drove our car to each of the different locations. We hadn’t realized we’d be driving (thought we’d be in some kind of group transportation) so we needed to go back to the square to get our car. No big deal, but somehow we weren’t clear on the transportation when we booked. Lots of good options for breakfast or lunch when you’re in town. Be sure to wear closed toed footwear, as you will be in areas that aren’t suitable for sandals.
We got a good education first. Then to the quarry. This one was impressive to see and also how they saw the marble in blocks in the quarry to bring up. Then to a company that cuts the blocks into plates and polishes them before selling.
Wonderful tour! We learnt many facts about marble and how it is quarried and finished. Joaquine was very passionate about her tour. It gave us a chance to look inside a working environment. Thank you!
