Isla del Cano, Costa Rica
View on Google MapsWe went snorkeling on a girls’ trip, and as Costa Ricans, we truly enjoy discovering the beautiful places our country has to offer. From the beginning, they made us feel comfortable and safe. Yock, our snorkeling guide, was very kind and even took videos of my friend while she was snorkeling. Alexa, the diving instructor, was very attentive and kind with the other divers, and we could clearly see how professional and caring she was. They offered sunscreen, fruits, and drinks during the tour. The waves can be strong at times, if you tend to get motion sick, taking medication helps. The trip is still totally worth it. The food at the end was delicious, I enjoyed a tradicional Costa Rican “casado”, followed by ice cream for dessert. Fue un paseíto muy pura vida!
Very good tour. Well planned and beautiful animals, along with accompanying landscapes. The guides were nice and dedicated people. In my case, it was a group with Brandon and Xavier. I would repeat!

Alexa and Brandon and the Captain took excellent care of us!!! Brandon took us to see eel, many sea turtles, coral, many fish. Then we got a ride up the hill from the beach to a wonderful restaurant for lunch, all included. Delicious lunch! Highly, highly recommend. Excellent value for the money! thank you!!!
Very enjoyable small group snorkeling trip to the beautiful Cano Island. Love supporting a small business that cares about their land and marine life. Lots of laughs, two 45min-1hr snorkel opportunities and a wonderful lunch at the end. And as a bonus.. we stumbled upon some humpback whales on our way to the island and they stopped and let us follow them for a good 30 minutes at least, which was a major highlight for me as I love the whales!
Excellent tour. Alexa our guide is passionate about the area, you can see that she knew her very much and respectful transmitting that love and respect to the group. Very attentive at all times that everyone was at ease and enjoying the tour. We saw sharks, turtles, octopuses, starfish and a thousand colorful fish. Lunch in the spectacular local restaurant.
This is an AMAZING snorkelling tour to do while you’re in Drake’s Bay! We went as a family of six and had the most incredible time. Alexa, who runs the company, organised it brilliantly: she communicated everything with us in perfect English, answering all of our questions and welcoming us when we arrived. Our guide Jock also spoke perfect English and was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the marine life that we saw. He was very passionate and experienced, taking us to all the best spots so we could see an amazing variety of sea life including sharks, manta rays, lobsters, and even whales. It was just beautiful, loads of fun, and the perfect day out, ending with lunch and ice cream. Everything felt very thought through and considerate. We felt very safe, and also saw that this company really cared about looking after the coral reef and marine life. All in all, a brilliant company to do snorkelling with in Drake’s Bay - thank you Alexa and Jock.
We went snorkeling with Brendon and want to highly recommend him. He is a very friendly person, a free diver and a super guide. We were 10 people on the boat, 8 snorkeled, two stayed on the boat and saw tunas and flying fish. One has to wear life jackets when snorkeling and he showed us ways to do it, so it wasn’t too hindering. Masks and fins are provided and of good quality. Anty fog was also privided. The 45 min boat ride was very pleasant. The morning snorkel was a little out from the island where later we went for a break. Since there was a little drift, almost not noticable, we actually went in the water 4 times and the boat brought us back to the pinnacle, around which we saw: 2 sharks on the bottom, a large school of big eyed jack fish, groupers, parrot fish, crocodile fish, puffer fish, angel fish and many more fish - and finally a manta, who circled up to us. Great! Brendon had seen it on the first snorkel and he was really eager to show her to us- and we did not mind at all to go in the water several times. I mention this since not all guides would show so much enthusiasm! The afternoon snorkel was closer to the island and we saw an even larger school of jacks, again grouper, parrot fish, a sting ray and then a large green turtle and a large hawksbill turtle. We got drinks on the boat, fruit and cookies in the break, and lunch afterwards in a restaurant (choices were asked for in the morning, vegetarian available). It was a perfect experience.
Great trip. Jock, the guide was great. Saw so many turtles swimming and he was happy to answer all questions. A lot more time snorkeling than we expected. Lunch at the restaurant was so delicious. Actually went back to it for dinner tonight. Highly recommend!
I did my tour with Yemanya Expeditions and they really exceeded all my expectations. The guides were super professional and very attentive with every detail. You can see that they know the area perfectly well and that they love what they do, if on the way we saw dolphins and already on the island the snorkeling was amazing: we saw a lot of fish, turtles and sharks.
Alexa was very helpful when I was researching and organising the trip including sorting out our transport to and from our hotel (as we were staying on the outskirts of town). The boat journey over to Cano was very smooth and quick and we had some dolphins join us along the way! The boat was full but when we arrived at Cano we were split into 2 smaller groups each with a guide. Our guide was Alexa - she was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had two separate 40 mins sessions in the water, with a short break in between on the beach at Cano. While snorkelling, we saw lots of amazing tropical fish, leatherback, hawksbill and green turtles, a stingray and a small blacktip reef shark. Visibility was pretty good - better than I was expecting. At the end of our second session, Alexa told us to swim down a couple of metres to hear a humpback whale "singing"...it was amazing! We stopped off at the wild and beautiful San Josecito beach on our way back to the mainland, and enjoyed a nice, cold beer! Once back in Drake we went for a tasty lunch of chicken and rice to round off the trip. Fantastic experience and a great crew - highly recommended!
