View on Google MapsThe day departed very early, we passed Edson before 5 am to get to Ollantaytambo to the train leaving at 6.40 am, the super comfortable scare, we went to sleep 😄, on the way we went to get our lunch (super good!) and Edson left us on the train. We had to get off at km 104, so we warned and everything was super coordinated. We arrived at the stop and met our guide, Luis. We set out on the journey, it was demanding, the one we took was an alternative one because the "normal" one was closed by the rains and could be dangerous (in December it is rainy season). The view always very beautiful, we learned a lot of the Quechua and Inca culture, the plants used for cooking, medicinal, and those we were seeing along the way. We made a stop in Wiñay Waina, a 100% place, Luis was explaining everything about the Inca and its culture while we were walking, and at that stop we could even stay something like 40 min to explore the place. We kept walking and arrived at about 17.00, we had almost sunset, super nice, we took some world photos from the sun gate of Machu Picchu. The day Sgt we went up just to visit the city and Luis there knew all the schedules and tips to bump into fewer people 😄 he told us about the life of the Inca and the life in cities and drums like we went to. Very nice, and super well organized. Lunch 10 out of 10!
We had a wonderful time doing the 2 Day Inca Trail with Machu Picchu Tours. John was very kind and helped us to plan our trip a few months in advance. He also meet us once we arrived to Cusco to explained the logistics of the hiking. Luis, our trekking guide, was fun, he made us feel safe and well taken care of. My friends and I are 3 ladies in our mid forties, we recommend to do some hiking training previous to your trip. Although the trail is doable it is definitely more enjoyable if your are physically prepare. Expect a long day of riding a bus, a train and 13km hike. Plus some altitud.
The experience was amazing! Very well organized logistic. John (at the office) and Luis (our expedition guide) made us feel safe, treat us with kindness and kept us informed of all the details. We really appreciate their professionalism and friendliness. Thank you! PS: if you plan to do this do some hiking training, is really important for a good experience.
We did the 2 days and 1 night Inca trail. I was really surprised that everything was perfect from start to finish. We were first met to explain each step of the journey in detail. The staff is punctual. Everything was fluid and so well organized. Lunch box very good. Our guide Luis was perfect, kind, passionate, we received good explanations (no too much or little). It was nice to spend these 2 days with him. Really great experience and very high quality! I can only highly recommend! +++
Completing the 2 day Inca Trail was an incredible achievement! The hike was demanding, but the stunning views and double visit to Machu Picchu made it worthwhile. Thanks to Machu Picchu Tours for their top-notch organization. I'm excited to explore more destinations with you! Tupananchiscuna!
My husband and I just completed the 2-day Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and wow, what an experience! The hike was challenging, but every step was absolutely worth it. From the stunning views to exploring ancient ruins along the way, this adventure was nothing short of magical. Our guide, Christian, was truly incredible. He was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly attentive, making sure we stayed informed about the history of the trail and the ruins, as well as keeping us safe and comfortable throughout the hike. His passion for the culture, nature and history of Peru was contagious, and his sense of humor kept us going through the tough parts of the trek. When we finally reached Machu Picchu and saw it through the Sun Gate, I couldn’t help but tear up. The view was breathtaking, and it was a moment I’ll never forget. Peru has now become one of my favorite places in the world, and this trail is definitely a must-do for anyone looking to experience the magic of Machu Picchu. Highly recommend this trek, and if you're lucky enough to get Christian as your guide, you're in for an unforgettable adventure
We had an amazing 5.5-day tour with Machu Picchu Tours, covering the Sacred Valley (1.5 days), the Short Inca Trail, Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain. John was exceptional—he coordinated everything seamlessly from our airport pickup to our drop-off. He was always available to answer any questions, no matter how small, and ensured we felt supported and well taken care of throughout the trip. Highly recommend this tour and John's services for anyone looking for a well-organized and memorable experience in Peru.
The whole experience was amazing, the hike, the guide John, the weather and the view of Machu Picchu that appeared when we arrived at the Sun Gate! In the evening we got good food at a good restaurant and nice to talk with John. Day two inside the ruined city was also exciting, John was a very good storyteller.
An amazing adventure with the amazingly talented guide John. Arriving at Sun Gate and getting the view of Machu Picchu is worth the rather strenuous hike. Very well organized tour highly recommended!
The trip was perfectly planned from start to finish, the transport, the hike, the hotel, the food and the entrance to Machu Picchu. The lovely guide Edwin was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the site, the hike, and it's history. It truly is an incredible and captivating place that is a must see if you have the opportunity.
