With only a few days to spend in Launceston, I thought of doing the Cradle Mountain activity for just a day. Lucky enough, I found a group tour to Cradle Mountain National Park organized by McDermott Coaches. Departing and returning to Launceston, the highlights of the tour are Cradle Mountain, Dove Lake circuit walk, Waldheim Chalet and King Billy Pine Forest walk. The drive to Cradle Mountain National Park was already an enjoyable experience itself. There are a lot of stunning scenery on the road. We also made some stopovers like in Sheffield and in a cheese farm when we were on our way back to Launceston. One of Australia’s most beautiful national parks, I had an amazing time joining the day tour to the Cradle Mountain National Park. We also hiked for three hours around Dove Lake. McDermott’s Coaches provided me the greatest experience to enjoy the scenery around the lake and the remarkable views and know more about the Cradle Mountain. Ben, our tour guide, made it also a fun and educational tour experience by showing us some of the native plants and telling us more about the environment at the Cradle Mountain National Park. This day tour from Launceston is certainly one of the best and unforgettable experiences I had in Tasmania.
As tourists we didn’t really know much about Cradle Mountain so when we read about the tour we thought it would be worth a go. John was our guide and to be honest we probably we wouldn’t have seen most of the stuff he showed us if we hadn’t done a tour, very informative and entertaining. Once we finished the tour we then had time to catch the free shuttle bus back to the lake and walk around it, so we had the best of both worlds in finding out about cradle mountain whilst still doing a walk.Definitely recommended.
John and Meg did a great job showing us around the beautiful park. They were very knowledgeable about the history of the park, wildlife, and plants. We enjoyed the personal touch they added to the tour. We would definitely recommend.
