View on Google MapsWe actually toured for 2 days, the wine tour north, and south to the Alpaca Farm and Akaroa. Stuart, our tour guide, was fantastic: knowledgeable, very experienced, personable, and with a good sense of humor. We really enjoyed our tours and would highly recommend Canterbury Trails. Absolutely amazing! We were made to feel incredibly special at every turn from been asked if there was anything special we wanted to see, places enroute we wanted to stop at to the vineyard experiences. You can tell she has a genuine connection to the places that are being shown off. Even down to knowing the gardeners and being involved in local community projects. Would highly recommend this tour if your looking for a personal experience that makes you feel special.
This was such a fun day! Our guide, Dave, was knowledgeable, personable and professional. We enjoyed his company throughout the day. We were lucky to be the only ones on the tour and had a comfortable ride in a Tesla. After pick up, we began with a stop to see the gorgeous view from Cashmere Hill. Then we headed into the Waipara wine region and stopped at three boutique wineries, with an extended stay for lunch at the last one. It was the most stunning charcuterie platter I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this tour if you are interested in learning about and experiencing this beautiful wine region.

We actually had a private Christchurch private tour of Christchurch and the surrounding area. Our guide was Mandy and she was fantastic! She asked what we were interested in and we mentioned street art, cultural places, recovery from the earthquake and aftershocks etc. She showed us many examples of street are during the day - some so stunning - one was a 3D of the storefronts that had been destroyed by the earthquake - so cool. We visited many places in the city including the catherdral, riverside market and so much more. We then drove into the hills above the city and had breathtaking views of Christchurch. Our recommendation is to ask for Mandy if you want to learn about the city and have a very pleasant day.
This was a really great experience! Our guide, Tia, was knowledgeable, personable and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed her company throughout the better part of a day. Her personal connection with the wineries made for a special experience as well. Another special aspect of the tour was Tia's personal recollections and commentary on the rebuilding of Christchurch.
What a wonderful day out. Sue took us to the highest point above the city for far reaching views surrounding the area. We drove on with great explanations of the cities history and viewpoints. We next visited two lovely small vineyards in the region. We had some delicious wines at both. At St. Georges we had lunch too, a cheeseboard with delicious bread and pickles. Felt very relaxed. Thank you to Sue for the excellent company, we felt we had known her for years.
Mary was great and gave us a very personalized tour of the city and three wineries. She had great knowledge of the local area.
We went to several wonderful wineries. Tia was a wonderful guide. She had a lot of knowledge of Christchurch, itself, but also took us to some great places to taste wine. One of our favorites was Terrace Edge.
Our tour was a custom earthquake focused tour of Christ Church. Tia was an excellent tour guide. One of our group had studied the liquefaction of soils for her university degree, and so much of the story of the earthquakes was of great interest to her. I was moved by Tia’s descriptions of her experiences on the day of the earthquake, which she and her family survived, and was moved also when she drove us through the "red zone" of her old neighborhood, where no building will ever be permitted again, to see all the fruit trees which were soon to be harvested.
This was basically a private tour, as only my husband and I were booked. Sue (if I remember the name) drove us in a van to the Port Hills. It was amazing to see the serious bicyclists ride up that hill. The views from various locations was cool. Then Sue took us to three wineries for tastings. It was a very pleasant time. The wine was very good. I even found a red that wasn’t bitter. We did not see much in Christchurch proper other than to drive by places we should see.
