View on Google MapsThis was the best day of my whole trip to Morocco! I visited a traditional weaving workshop, where I even wove a piece of fabric for a djellaba — the traditional Moroccan coat. I learned how to wind the threads that go into the shuttle, and they showed me the shop with beautiful handmade textiles. We drank delicious mint tea with foam and played the guitar. Later my guides showed me some amazing card tricks, gave me a small gift, and kindly walked me back. It was such a warm, unforgettable experience — truly the highlight of my week in Morocco!
We thoroughly enjoyed this. In addition to learning the traditional method of weaving (one of our group is an active weaver back in Australia, we were taken back to their family home and a cup of tea. A fabulous day.
Warm Welcoming, immersive and rewarding activity, we spent an excellent afternoon with you, extended by a pleasant moment of sharing over tea! Thanks to this activity, we had the chance to discover the complex techniques of this craft work, as well as the final rendering. Thank you all for your sympathy and professionalism!
Wonderful experience with beautiful family running the tour! My partner and I had a wonderful time making a fool of ourselves while learning how to weave the jillaba material with the master on a 300 year old loom. Afterwards we visited the father of the family in his store and were invited into the amazing family home for tea and card games on the rooftop. Highly recommend tours with this family for an authentic Chefchaouen experience!
Experience in full immersion and authentic with Mourad and the weaver craftsman, very patient and also very gifted! We were able to discover, in a hidden workshop of Chefchaouen all the steps of the weaving of djellaba. Mourad is very welcoming and kind, we took the time to exchange and get to know each other and had very interesting exchanges. This experience will mark our journey for a long time to come. Mourad also offers other activities that we would have loved to discover! Chokran bezaf!
I had such a fun time learning about Moroccan weaving! It was the #1 thing I wanted to learn about while visiting the country so this was a perfect opportunity to do so with a translator. The guide (who speaks very good English) picked me up from my hotel and took me to a local weaver and let me watch the process and ask any questions I had. Then, the rest of the time was spent learning how to work the loom myself. I had some trouble learning it because it takes a lot of practice, but both the guide and the craftsman were very patient and showed me all the techniques I could use to improve. I would recommend coming with questions or curiosities you have about weaving, because the experience was open ended and you could sort of ask whatever you wanted. Overall a great experience and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity!!
I took a private wool weaving workshop class with Morad as my guide and it was a wonderful experience! We worked with an experienced craftsman who answered any questions I had and taught me how to work the loom. The class lasted about an hour and a half. I recommend coming with some questions so that you are prepared to make the most out of your experience, because it was very open-ended and I was able to do sort of a Q&A with the craftsman. They showed me around the room where they weave the textiles and explained the various tools to me. If there is anything specific you want to learn, you can request to learn it. Great experience for anyone who is passionate about fiber arts or who is just curious to understand this amazing craft.
