View on Google MapsMy husband and I highly recommend this tour of Charlotte, North Carolina, better known as the "Queen City." We learned about Queen Charlotte, for whom the city was name, including her African and mixed heritage ethnicity, and walked to a range of sites that were once historic, thriving Black neighborhoods, which helped us come to understand how African Americans were critical in building the city and the wealth tied to it. This was a two-hour tour, which was the perfect amount of time, and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. She was able to answer all questions and also share some of her experiences of living in Charlotte. There’s also a tour for youth (6-18 years old), which I’m sure is equally interesting.
This tour was excellent. My husband and I learned so much about Charlotte’s Black History. I would highly recommend this tour!!
The guide, Naomi, very articulate and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this well paced walking tour!!

Very knowledgeable tour. Insightful discussion about the contributions black citizens had on shaping the Queen City
Awesome guided tour that opened my eyes to a history Charlotte that should be celebrated. I've visited Charlotte on numerous occasions, but now have a heartfelt connection to it. Definitely recommend.
The tour was great! The tour guide was quite knowledgeable about the City! The meeting location was perfect. The walk was not bad at all. We’d stop to talk, take break if needed, etc. i thoroughly enjoyed the tour! Do not let the “walking tour” discourage you, it’s definitely an easy walk.
Naomi gave an excellent tour. I learned a lot and appreciate the visual aids and research that went into this tour. Highly recommend!
I gained vital insight to the historical contributions of African Americans in Charlotte and the U.S. that have been left out. Our tour guide was not only extremely knowledgeable she was also personable. I highly recommend this tour.
