View on Google MapsWe had an excellent tour with George (Jordi). It’s always great to be with a guide who clearly has both knowledge and passion to teach about their city! We had an overview tour of Cartagena and surrounding area. He gave us history and put it in context. We drove to the Cabo de Palos lighthouse, then back into town with a drive around to see a panorama tour of the city. Then we parked and went to the Roman theater and museum which was a highlight. George gave us lots of info about the excavation and preservation of the Roman Theater. We then walked thru town stopping at interesting architectural places. He adapted the tour to our interests and time and we had a great day. Highly recommend if you want someone engaging and very knowledgeable!
Excellent well informed tour guide who was also a history professor. Very personable. He adapted the pace of the tour and walking to accommodate our needs.
Our guide Jorge gave us a half day tour and it was excellent! He was so knowledgeable of the culture and history. Very accommodating to our personal preferences , he made the tour so enjoyable. We came away with a great understanding of this charming, historical city, thanks to Jorge.

Tour did not happen due to their being two cities (Cartagena) with the same name in two different countries but neither site provides the counties (Spain & Columbia) Booked the Cartagena in Spain and it should of been Columbia. Agency in Spain refused to refund my money back in excess of 500 (4 people) ! Even though the sites were not clear on the country which certainly is not my fault, I lost all of my money!!!
Jordi was fantastic. Full of information and historical details which was great. It was clear he had a real passion for the area, and Cartagena in particular. We would recommend Jordi 100%
The meeting place was easy to find and Ana was a few minutes early. She whisked us away in her comfortable minivan for a day comparing and contrasting Cartagena and Murcia.Ana is warm and knowledgeable and packed a lot into our day. Best might have been the interpretive centre for the ruins of Cartagena and the walk through the pedestrian part of Murcia. Ana's English is clean and rich; she lived awhile in York in the UK. I was in a wheelchair rehabbing a broken leg, and it was obvious that Ana knew how to adapt the tour for people with mobility issues. She made sure the places she chose wer accessible and it was one of our best shore excursions on the whole cruise. Highly recommended.
Ana, Jorge's sister and partner in Quality Guided Tours, is a history buff of Cartagena, which was fascinating. She was easy to talk to, open about life in Cartagena, economy and politics. We popped into a coffee shop that was closed but she knew the owner and convinced him to open his shop because she wanted to introduce us to the local coffee drink, Asatico. Yummy!
Alyssa was a fantastic tour guide hired by Quality Tours,a class outfit run by 2 professional guides (brother & sister). She was sensitive to my wife slower mobility and we never felt rushed. We saw all there was to see including the impressive museum of Punic and Roman artifact\ts including the original city wall. We ended with a special coffee and had time to shop on the way back to the ship. Highly recommended.
I will always remember the sights and tastes of Cartegena because of Jordi Linares. I cannot recommend him enough. MARKETING Jordi! MARKETING! Everyone should know about this delightful city with its incredible history. Muchas Gracias, Jordi. Eress el mejor.

Our private guide Ana gave us a personalized, air conditioned car and walking leisurely but jam packed and informed tour of Cartegna. She was sensitive to the slower pace of a hip and knee challenged tourist like me but never made me feel awkward.

Cartegena is rich in history and recently discovered Roman ruins. We explored excavation sites that included part of a 2 story 30 foot tall and 15 foot wide Phoenician wall that housed horses and soldiers within its walls, a Roman forum with thermal baths, a huge Roman theatre as well as a Roman coliseum that now hosts bull fights. The amazing thing is that many of these ancient treasures weren't discovered until the 1980's. They had been covered over and built upon, preserving many treasures that might otherwise have been plundered. Thee excellent new museums cover the Punic wall and Roman theatre and the Roman Baths. You can actually walk through different rooms within the forum complex which is an ongoing excavation site. We ended our explorations with a delicious tapas lunch in a youthful restaurant venue that dates to the 1600's. The owner played the fiddle slicing us delicious Parma ham... Like prosciutto but different.
