View on Google MapsBoth Calukmul and Balamkuwere amazing sites. We got to see several local animals on our way to and from Calukmul. While that isn’t promised it sure was special. Getting to the top of one of the temples in Calukmul afforded us the opportunity to see a monkey! Also an incredible view of the complex and surrounding forest. Balancing was a shorter trips with a big payoff that I won’t spoil. Afterwards lunch/dinner was delicious, and well earned. The drive is long if you only go for one day, but worth it. Our guide was Willberth. He was amazing. A soft spoken gentleman with a passion for the natural world and human history. Couldn’t recommend this more. Went in the rainy season, had both sites to ourselves.

Wonderful trip to Calakmul and our guide Wilbert was amazing. Learnt so much about the Mayans and this wonderful city. Highly recommend this trip!

We went on a three-day tour of Mayan ruins in both Campeche and Quintana Roo, spending two nights in Xipujil. Wilberth was a fabulous guide. He is extremely knowledgable, keeping up on the latest archaeological research and Mayan history and language, and eager to answer questions. He is also passionate about the environment and bird watching with an amazing eye. His English was excellent. We would definitely go with Chelita again.
