Adventure in Calakmul departing from Campeche

Less that 24 hours before scheduled pickup, this tour was cancelled. The reason was that I was the only person who had signed up for a tour that day. No attempt was made to connect with another operator or to provide any way for me to visit Calakmul. Their only offer was for me to pay full price for two people. Hotel Castelmar came through with a private tour at a reasonable price, thank goodness.

I've chosen to book this excursion in Calakmul organized by Vamo a Rola and I'm very happy about my adventure in Sustainable Calakmul. I met with my driver Victor at 4 AM, we have been together to Calakmul and the English speaking guide, René, joined us directly at the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve. They both did a really good job, Victor is efficient and a very good driver,  and René gave me a lot of explanations about the archeological site of Calakmul. We also observed some animals in the biosphere reserve. This was an amazing trip ! I've been back in Campeche at 5 PM. One possible improvement about this activity is concerning communications before the excursion with the tour operator. It would be very relevant that the tour operator send an email 24 hours before the excursion to confirm everything. In my case, I had to contact directly the tour operator to check that everything was alright as I had no confirmation. But vamo a rola did a great job in the end!
