View on Google MapsMy husband and I had a beautiful experience in the bay swimming with and viewing the dolphins yesterday. The sea was calm, and the boat was roomy and perfect for our experience. Shane, Noodles (the boat captain) and the 5 volunteers were attentive and full of information, enthusiasm and generous with the chocolate cookies and sunscreen. They were all very respectful of the dolphins, as well as focussed on giving us an incredible experience. I felt very safe at all times. We went into the water 3 times, with the first time being the most spectacular. We were about 100 yards offshore, and small groups of dolphins swam around us, and underneath the group. We had good look multiple times. It was fun and easy to snorkel and the wetsuits made you feel very buoyant. Over the 4 hours the boat explored different areas and other boats reported where good sightings were to be had. When we weren't in the water we saw many, many dolphins feeding, sleeping, playing, jumping, so there was never a dull moment. We were lucky with the weather, and thought the tour was managed very well.
It was perfectly organized. We went swimming with dolphins several times, got valuable information about the dolphins, as well as the environment, industry...
We have done a lot of different swimming with dolphine tours in WA and SA. Unfortunately this one did not match our expectation at all. The only point it matches is, that the tour is wildlife friendly. Tour structure: You are going into the water yes. But you are not allowed to swim or to snorkel. You have to gather with 16 people together on a tiny radius and you have to float for around 30-60 minutes on the same spot with 4-5 volunteers which are constently bossing you to stay so close together, that you always bump into the next one. Then you need to wait/hope that the dolphines are aproaching you. They told us at the beginning, that they do not have a license to swim, so the word swim in the advertisment is very misleading. It is definitely not swimming/snorkling. It is waiting and a aquafit training/wating. If this is really a license thing, then this company has the wrong license for that what they are selling. So either they need to change the license or their marketing advertisment but like this it is a trap! Crew: 1 swim lead and 4-5 volunteers. The swim lead was giving good informations about dolphines yes, but the crew seemed not very experienced. Especially the volunteers using the safety buoys as their own swim support or trying to use their authority to handle the group like in kindergarden. They ask at the beginning if you are an experienced snorkeler but even as a pro you are not allowed to swim 5 meters alone to another crew member to leave the water. If you want to go out of the water one volunteer needs to swim with you to the boat, even if you are experienced and the boat 5 meters away. Volunteers are low payed therefore older or very young people which do not seem to be certified in water abilities or rescue abilities. Floating spots: Visability under water is between 30 centimeters. Yes this can be a matter of weather but even on the photos of tripadvisor you see very sandy and unclear water. 1 spot close to the shore a bit protected but therefore shallow and sandy. Men over 1.75meters are touching the ground and need to float with bowed legs for 30-45 mins. 2nd spot close to the beach with impact of waves which are constantly moving you. And then every 20 seconds the reminder "stay together" "move closer to each other" and annoying hand signals. If the dolphines are keen to approach you, you do not see them under water and you can not make yourself interessting as you are not allowed to swim or snorkel or move only 1 meter away from the group to make a funny not splashing move to attract them. Infrastructure: The boat is minimal standard. On other tours you have a basket to put your things in and hold them dry. Here you have a tiny table for everybody (a jacket per person) and the rest needs to be on the ground and will get wet. The boat is not really build for such an activity.
We had an unforgettable experience seeing so many dolphins and swimming with some of them. well trained volunteers guiding us and sharing their knowledge in dolphins. Professional equipment and swimsuit provided to keep us warm in the chill water.
We arrived at 7.30 am and were each kitted out with snorkel, mask, fins abd wetsuit. Yvette introduced us to the crew, mostly volunteers and told us about the conservation work done by this not-for-profit organisation. We were told about safety, what to do and what to expect. We swam 3 times and we saw a lot of dolphins. In the water they interacted closely on the last two swims. We also saw dolphins very close up whilst on the boat. There were only 12 of us and we had plenty of room to move about on-board. The team who took us out where fantastic, very knowledgeable and great fun too. We felt extremely safe. Thank you all , we can't remember all the names, but can recall Yvette, Sharon, Rosalee (good luck with your Dr training) and Natalie and the young lady from Japan who works for Delta Airlines (why are they not sponsoring your good work?). Thank you, for a great experience, loved every second.! Oh and thanks Caprain Noodle. 🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬
We experienced 2 larger groups of dolphins to swim with. One dived right through our group and 2 others (mother and child) also came near me so I could swim a bit next to them. The guides and helpers have been very supportive. And they were as happy as we were about this great experience. It was nice to see how much they love doing their job and how careful. I had a little hard time getting along with the fins. They had to stay underwater at all times to avoid scaring the dolphins.
Absolutely amazing trip! Once in a lifetime. Amazing people. Thank you so much. Swam with the dolphins and it was just incredible
Great morning out with our excellent guide Ella and the boat captain. We were able to enter the water on 3 ocassions to swim with the majestic intelligent dolphins. We followed a pod of about 6 and they were up close and personal to within a couple of metres. They played around the boat on numerous occasions. Highly recommend. Would definitely go again 10 out of 10 experience.
This tour is certainly a must do experience; especially to be able to swim with the dolphins in their natural habitat is amazing! Axel and his volunteer crew were very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
Excellent morning and wonderful information provided by Axel and the crew. Plenty of dolphins. Highly recommend and well worth the cost that goes to a great cause 👌
