View on Google MapsWelcoming Host & space with a familiar ambient of "Home village" where we received a delicious warm te in a very cold Sunday afternoon. We did not know what to expect but definitely got more than we expected. Well guided experience of entertainment and fun. We were able to go back in time were people conversate, take decisions as a community, become president of the village, go to a library and reflect back in time through humor, speak with a telephone, make new words, marry to ourselves and mail letters to ourselves and to others. Definitely an interactive activity that could touch hearts in many ways. Thank you very much Barbara for making Humor be alive in the mist of what the world is experiencing right now🙏
Went to Humorville with a friend from out of town and it was exactly what we needed to reconnect after having not seen each other for a while—a space to discuss some of the meaningful parts of our lives while still having FUN :) Barbara is the best!! We need more Jesters of the peace.

HumorVille ROCKS! It’s a really fun, funny, and meaningful experience. At first I was getting into the humor of the interactions, but I realized as we continued through the different stations that I was having a much deeper experience than expected. HumorVille catalyzes humor and deep reflection in a way no other curated experience does. In a city where we sometimes are on guard to protect ourselves from brutal realities about our lives, HumorVille provides a necessary safe place to think through who we are and what we want out of life. Through a brilliant series of activities, my ideas were tested in a fun and playful way. Barbara is a genius curator and creative - I’m so thankful for having had the opportunity to visit. I will be back soon!
We loved our birthday visit to HumorVille. We went in September as a family of four to celebrate our 17-year-old’s birthday, and it was a cool experience that allowed us to connect in a new way. Barbara is a great facilitator. She creates a space that feels joyful, playful and safe. It’s now January, and we each just received a letter we wrote to ourself during our visit - its part of the HumorVille Love Letter Lounge experience and getting it months later brought smiles to all our faces. Such good timing with it arriving in the new year. I also recently noticed little remnants from the experience hanging in a beautiful collage/living art installation in birthday kids room. Every town needs a HumorVille. If you’re looking for a unique way to celebrate, reflect, or simply connect with the people you love, highly recommend.
Immersive station by station art installation experience that’s unique to each attendee. Great for small to medium sized groups and led by a decades-long virtuoso of leading such endeavors that bridge the silly with the deep. Bonding experience for the strangers you become friends with. Chance to look inward and tackle big topics (or silly ones) in a silly way (or a big way). Def recommend , stellar addition tot he neighborhood!!
I really enjoyed this experience! I went with two people I had recently met and it was a meaningful way to get to know each other while reflecting on what's important to each of us in the year ahead. The curation is very thoughtful, lighthearted, and, perhaps most important, fun!
The Ville is made of Love and profound care. Every activity is designed to be simple yet deep and transformative. The energy and creativity of the experience allow participants to show vulnerability and also pride. It was a genuinely soulful time for me. Life comes with ups and downs and sometimes the challenges of our day to day can harden parts of ourselves, to preserve the tenderness and to ignite connections, give humor and the ville a try, you will learn, enjoy, and maybe even expand your heart.
The Town of HumorVille offers a playful space to engage seriously with yourself and your life direction. Want to lean more into intimacy in your life? Declare it as an election speech from behind a podium! Want deeper and more connected relationships? Write a letter to someone at the Post Office! Want to bring more creativity or play into your life? Well, this is the right place for doing that -- and, you can send yourself a reminder of that at the town's Telephone Booth. Arrive at HumorVille with a group of people you don't know that well, and you'll leave feeling closer and more seen.
Barbara is a host and facilitator par excellence, a genius at bringing out the playful and whimsical sides of everyone she meets. I attended Humorville with a friend and had a deep and transformative experience: over the course of two hours, the various games and participatory experiences Barbara invited us into helped us get more deeply in touch with ourselves — our aspirations and dreams, and the ways we could be our own best friends — as well as guiding us to learn many unexpected things about each other. It was extremely rich, extremely fun, and I left in awe of what Barbara has put together. A compelling offering for anyone looking for a guided way to decompress or reconnect with a group of friends, a perfect space for small teams of collaborators to find new pathways in their work together through play, and an artistic experience as emblematic of the experimental culture of New York City as any you'll find. Run, do not walk! Even better — fly on eagle's wings to Humorville!!
If I could give Humorville 6 stars, I just might. It is a bit of a performance immersive art vibe, mixed with improv group activities, but tied together with a community spiritual narrative of related social activity stations. Part reflection, part social interaction art, part let loose and pretend to be yourself with others, and part confessional..... and you get to take home a stamped passport from all your adventures. This is an experience that is very much but not entirely about the group dynamic. How you feel about it will depend on the attitude and expectations you bring but also on the master of ceremonies and the level of intimacy you and others bring to the quest. Also Barbara, our host, was amazing.
