Polonnaruwa Ancient City Private Day Tour (Hidden Gems)

Our temple tour was very interesting and apart from not always being able to easily understand our guide's accent, he was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. Very enjoyable.

Really interesting tour with a very knowledgable guide. We visited lots of sites. The highlight was a Hindu blessing at one of the temples. At 4 hours long, we did get a bit tired towards the end. And we didn’t realise that you can’t walk between the sites, so there was a bit of back and forth about transport options the night before, which could have been avoided if this was clearer at booking.

The visit was very complete with good explanations. Despite the heat we enjoyed it a lot. The guide very attentive and very knowledgeable of the history of the place and its hidden gems.

Tharindu showed us around the incredible Polonnaruwa ruins and was an outstanding guide. His knowledge of the history and stories behind each site made the visit so much more special, and he was able to answer all of our questions with ease. Beyond being extremely knowledgeable, Tharindu is warm, friendly, and easy to get along with, which made the whole experience even better. We would highly recommend him to anyone visiting the area

Had the best tour with Tarry! So detailed, so knowledgeable about Polonnaruwa and Sri Lankan history in general - answered all our questions, spoke incredible English and made sure we got home safe. We also did the tour in his air con car which was very needed in the midday heat - 100% recommend!

A superb tour with Tharry who explained all the history of this important ancient city with patience, clarity and enthusiasm. The tour overran the set time due to Tharry's enthusiasm for his subject. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the company of this accomplished guide.

Me and my spouse booked a last minute guide, 30 min before arriving to the Ancient City of Poloonaruwa. We matched with Tharindu and we spent literaly the rest of the day with him. He speaks good english, he has deep knowledge of the Sri Lanka’s history and is he’s answers regarding any topic go beyond the surface. He also suggested a restaurant for dinner and it was one of the best food experience we had in the island. Would recommne a lot, specially for people who are really intersted in Sri Lanka’s history.

We booked this tour last minute when we where driving to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa and it was the best decision we could make! Thari (I don't know if I'm spelling well) is passionate about the history and traditions of this city and of Sri Lanka. Even though it was raining, he gave us the most incredible experience - we almost felt how was living there in the past! He also gave us lots of tips about Sri Lanka and in the end of the tour he surprised us by taking us to a typical restaurant where we ate probably on of the best foods in Sri Lanka, cooked like ancient times. Thank you a lot for all. We would extremely recommend you embarking on this journey!
