View on Google MapsWe had a perfect day in Aomori with our tour guide Yasuo. We built the custom itinerary, which had a focus on Aomori’s natural beauty, with the tour company ahead of time. Yasuo met us early in the morning right on time and as we drove through the morning to various sites (Jogakura Bridge, the Sukayu Jigoku-numa natural hot spring lake, Lake Towada, and Seiryu-ji temple), Yasuo gave us a lot of great insights into Aomori’s history and current situation. When we asked him if we could spend more time in nature and less time at the temple, he worked with the driver to arrange for three stops on the Towada outward stream where we walked the nature path and saw some beautiful waterfalls. Yasuo was a joy to spend time with and we have nothing but great things to say about the Japan Awaits experience.
Our guide Corine Kung was the best tour guide we have had in Japan. She was a lot of fun and designed the tour around where we wanted to go and do. Aomori Contemporary Art Centre was great and we got to do drumming at the Nebuta Museum and see floats from the festival.

Our guide, Mr. Atsushi Nagasawa, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to answer our many questions about Japan and Japanese culture, showing us some interesting places throughout the day that made our stay here memorable. I highly recommend him as a tour guide due to his professionalism and patience explaining things to us.

Our Aomori tour guide, Nagasawa Atsushi, was exceptional, bringing the history of the Nebuta Museum Wa Rasse and Sannai-Maruyama to life with enthusiasm and knowledge. His engaging storytelling made our visit both educational and incredibly enjoyable. Highly recommended for an insightful and personal exploration of Aomori’s cultural heritage. In addition, he helped us with postal services, so that we were able to mail multiple postcards with appropriate postage to our grandchildren in the United States.
The subways were extraordinary. The history of various places shared by our guide was great. He was adaptable to quick changes in plans. And was also very useful in interpreting when we shopped.
