View on Google MapsYes, the Copán tour is a long day, but it’s absolutely worth it—especially since we avoided the crowds with a 4:10 AM pickup. Josue was incredible: super knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely fun to be around. He felt familiar right away and gave us clear, helpful tips for the border crossings and for arriving in Copán—how much Honduran currency to exchange, where to do it, and what to expect overall. Everything felt smooth and stress-free. Once in Copán, our local guide Oscar was top-notch. He’s been giving tours for 30+ years, and it really showed. Copán is rich with history, and seeing the macaw birds flying all around the site made the experience even more special. They’re fed twice a day, and we arrived right around 9:30 AM, so we got to see them up close—which alone made the trip feel extra worthwhile. We skipped the tunnels (not huge archaeology people), and still felt like we got a full, meaningful experience. The food in Copán was delicious—definitely try the traditional baleadas (beans, eggs, and cheese 😍), and the jalapeño fajita was also really good. Overall, a great tour. Yes, it’s on the pricier side, but I’d highly recommend it if you want to visit Honduras just for Copán and return the same day safely and comfortably. You could also drive yourself across the border—it actually felt very safe and easy, which was a pleasant surprise. 🇭🇳✨
Josue was on time to pick me up from the hotel, we shared with us information about the itinerary and helped us to go thour El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras customs quickly. It was a long journey but he was really helpful and shared tips with us about the trip and information about the region. It was a great day.

Long but fulfilling day! Josué Romero was friendly , knowledgeable, helpful and had great suggestions. He came prepared for all types of weather and made a long trip bearable with stops at all the right times! This is an excellent safe way to see Honduras! Guide at Copan was super funny and made for an enjoyable tour! The restaurant stop had great service and a nice environment! He is super organized and pre- plans every detail!
Our tour guide from San Salvador (Gabby) did a great job getting us back and forth to Copan. At Copan, we had a great local guide (Giovanni) who had 35 years of experience and has intimate knowledge of the history of the archeological excavations, knows many of the experts in the field (Richard Hansen, Harvard professors) as well as being an expert ornithologist. I had been to many Mayan sites in the past (about 12) and had a good background and he answered all my many questions patiently and in depth. It is a long day (4:30 to 6:30) but despite traffic on the way back (including a Christmas parade in Santa Ana, the 14 hours were within what was advertised. It was a wonderful experience of a lifetime.
The tour was simply fantastic, largely thanks to Joshua's professionalism. He proved to be not only an excellent driver, but also an extraordinary conversationalist, able to answer in detail and precisely every question he was asked. Although it was a long journey, Joshua made the experience enjoyable, interesting and really enjoyable at all times. Impeccable service that exceeds expectations. Definitely highly recommended.
Definitely recommend the excellent full day tour from Positive Tours to the expertly restored Mayan UNESCO Copan Ruins, Honduras. We decided to use the same company in El Salvador that we had great success with on another full day tour. David was our tour guide and he had a very relaxed and thorough style as he easily navigated our small group through multiple border crossings, which could have been quite logistically painful without him. He and our driver navigated the complex terrain & traffic as we arrived at the archeological site. He handed us off to an amazing local Honduran tour guide, Marvin. Marvin even helped several of our tour group with some umbrellas as it was raining when we arrived. He blended loads of local and regional history to our well-travelled multicultural group from Central & South America as well as Europe. His command of languages was quite impressive too as he knew conversational French and Portuguese. The tour is about 2.5-3 hours on the archeological site so definitely bring water, snacks, sunscreen and potentially bug spray. There are only bathrooms in the visitor center so plan accordingly. There are some steep pillars so also beware of that for any mobility challenges, but it seems to be very family friendly especially the grand plaza and arena. We did not do the tunnel tour. We had a quick but tasty lunch in the town of Copan before loading into the mini-van for the long trek back to San Salvador. Thanks much for keeping us safe and setting up a very nice tour of Copan!
Notified the day before by WhatsApp of the time at the hotel. Punctual. Good explanations for crossing the border with Guatemala then Honduras. Beautiful site visited with a local guide. Then lunch in the pretty town of Copan and a short walk in the city before leaving.
I don't know what to tell others, because the tour did not operate the day on which I had booked it. I was evidently the only person booked, so the tour was likely canceled due to the distance and cost of operating it for only one client. This tour was one of my primary reasons for coming to El Salvador, so obviously I was quite disappointed, but I also understand the costs of running a business.
Excellent communication prior to the day trip from my driver, Miguel. It was just me on the tour, with 2 drivers sharing the work (Adriana and Miguel). Both were excellent drivers and very friendly. My local guide at Copan, Gustavo, provided excellent information on the ruins and some history of Honduras in general. I was not expecting the Copan Ruins to be as large as they are! Simply amazing! Both Miguel and Adriana were extremely helpful during the multiple immigration stops (you travel first to Guatemala before traversing to Honduras). It was a very enjoyable experience, but be advised you will depart VERY early (5am) and not return to San Salvador until around 8-830pm. Thankfully, I was able to cat nap in the backseat, both to and from the destination!
Miguel and Adriana tag teamed the long driver that started about 5am. They helped me navigate the easy borders in Guatemala and Honduras. Copan was interesting, beautiful and I was assigned a guide to give me the history of the site. We enjoyed a lunch and a short walk through the city of Copan. It was a long day, approx 5am-5pm, but the guides made it hassle free! I’d recommend
